Hey Mad Lust, just saw your birthday was yesterday, so happy late birthday!
I've been thinking about the HE400's and HD650's, do the 650's convey the singers emotions better, like, does stuff like Adele sound fantastic on it?

Never hurts to ask. I'm not an audeze dealer but we've discounted similar products. Trust me it won't offend them.
I know, but I was saying that I wouldn't buy a demo LCD-2 (or any headphone for that matter). Only reason is I like my things(esp. headphones) brand spankin' new.

I know what you were trying to say. We'll discount brand spanking new flagships. Better than them collecting dust on our shelves. Never be afraid to ask.
Holy Schiit! Just bought me a HD650 for Christmas, after shipping and all it was $425 plus a $50 Amazon gift card.
I'm thinking the exact same thing, Order the Magni/Modi, then, build a Crack amp, then get the speedball upgrade, then get the AudioGD NFB-1.32. Then a balanced amp, then a Toxic Silver cable.Just got my brand new hd 650's yesterday for $350, I think it was a pretty good price. Overall I am enjoying them a whole lot more than the he-400's and they aren't even amped up yet, I love how comfortable they are and I can't wait to get an amp to do them justice. I am thinking of ordering the magni and modi from schitt.

Sennheiser like many companies has a "MAP" policy. MAP = minimum advertised price. Authorized retailers have to live with this rule or risk losing their rights to sell the product.
The fluctuation is do to retailers trying to bend the rules. They are short lived because manufacturers monitor these things. Best bet is to speak to a retailer and ask for a discount. They can sell for less, just can't advertise for less.
With regard to the Sennheiser HD650 the policy in place is known as a UMRP policy, or Unilateral Minimum Retail Price. This means dealers are not supposed to discount this SKU under any circumstances, advertised or not, with risking the inventory availability. If you violate this policy, Sennheiser says they will withhold inventory on that model for a period of 90 days.
YES! Although Amazon will quickly react when someone else breaks UMRP. They won't be beat, even if it means selling below cost. It's crazy.
