Those are my feelings also, although if you dont get the right fit (deep enough insertion) the soundstage will appear "flat", in front of you, 2D feeling and lacking the 3rd dimension. A proper insertion depth will restore the 3rd dimension and give that "convex" image but since the soundstage is very wide and far away, you still wont get that immersive feeling that you can get with some other phones. Like joker also said before, i dont feel any frequency range is recessed compared to the others in those, everything is just presented further away which i also think is the reason some people feel their mids are recessed (that need to up the volume to feel the vocals closer). And joker was spot-on saying they are great for open air live recordings, i always end up listening to those with the pr1pro because it feels so right with them. Im gonna post the review i started writing a few weeks ago but gave up about posting since the M9 biflanges changed my whole impression of those. Will still be interesting since nobody has posted extended impressions but joker about the pr1pro.
Also, an interesting anecdote :
Found back my cyclone pr1pro case with the original tips inside that i had misplaced.
So i tryed the original stock biflange again to see if what i thought i remembered was right (killed all the sub-bass vs single flange, worthless) since i am now using the meelec m9 biflange which look extremely similar but are a huge improvement over any other tip especially soundstage-wise.
To my surprise, turns out my memories were right, stock biflange kills all the sub-bass whereas the very similar m9 biflange give me the fullest sound i can get.
It's amazing how such a virtually imperceptible to the eyes difference in tips can make such a huge difference in sound quality. When i first got to headfi (been lurking for a long time before signing up), i used to find quite laughable to see how people here could spend so much time and money experimenting with different although apparently very similar tips. Actually even right now i would hardly beleive what i just wrote hadnt i experienced it first hand.
While i dont care for the M9, im glad ive bought them for this alone.I've ordered a bunch of ebay lelong biflanges, hope they are similar to the meelecs, if not, gonna have to stock up on those from meelec website.
