Review: Fischer Audio's DBA-02

I use them almost exclusively with my iBasso T3 (LOD with Touch, mini to mini with ZuneHD), and the better the source, the better they sound (LFF's review covers that aspect of them). However, when I do plug them in directly, they still sound fantastic. I just want the best possible source for listening, and I believe the T3 gives me that.

I don't own a portable amp but just my clip+ for on the go use. They sound just fine and wasn't lacking anything imo. It may improve with an amp but I don't think it's absolutely necessary.

Agree, not absolutely necessary at all. Just a nice luxury if you don't mind toting an amp. And the T3 really adds very little bulk to the equation. In fact, anything larger is unacceptable to me (and more expensive, cause on the amp front, I am not sure the $250+ higher price tags are worth it).

ok well it seems like no amp for me, at least for right now. Only reason I can see it for me to have one is for the bass boost.

I'm enjoying my DBA-02's straight from either iPod Classic or Blackberry Curve. There have been a very few times that I might have appreciated a tiny bit of bass boost, but the EQ's built in to those devices goes too far. Then along comes a well-mixed track and I realize that these IEMs give what they should (what the mixer intended).

I find even a cheap FiiO helps with weak sources. Otherwise I wouldn't bother.

reading dweavers unique burn in for more bass has got me thinking maybe I should do the same with my dba when they come in. What do you guys think? I dont want to take away from the dbas greatness, but at the same time I do love bass.
wasnt really thinking about it dbas dont really have a burn in

I HATE BA drivers.

But the DBA-02 changed EVERYTHING.

I have never heard a pair of more natural-sounding, more well-behaved BA driver headphones.
It never made me notice that it's a BA-driver pair of headphones, natural like dynamic drivers and yet with the poise and discipline of BAs.
A marriage in heaven.

I am glad.

Downloading now. Thanks for that music tip.

I just posted a new thread on the DBAs and top tier IEMs. The DBAs have made me realize that futzing around for $250+ universal IEMs is officially now a waste of time, much as LFF laid it out in his initial review. Customs or nothing going forward for me. I know there are people who won't agree, but not much I can do about it but shrug my shoulders and hit "play."
