o_O I've always felt that the highs on the MS400 were great, no problems with clarity or definition, just rolled off a bit and overshadowed by the mids. Could a mod like this actually improve the highs without just detracting from mid volume?

So did it clean up the highs without taking away from the mids and the bass?

The foam on the inside sounded better to me than the felt. The felt gave slightly better definition in the highs but sucked out too much energy in the lows. The foam was a compromise in between. The putty on the inside would just be mass loading to improve bass response, but it also takes up cup volume in an already very small space so I'm not sure if it did very much.

The foam material under the plate got rid of that slight buzzing I heard at certain high frequencies. Switching to the damping material does much the same, and also mass loads further although the differenes at that point are minimal if not placebo. The hole I punched in the damping material for the vents is round though, and slightly smaller than the regular vent size, so would affect sound a bit.

I am not a fan of the M50. The mids are too recessed for me and the soundstage is no better than all the rest in this lineup. For gaming, I might lean towards the M80. I haven't heard the htf600 or d1100.

You don't need a very powerful amp for the DT1350 so don't bother spending tons of money on a powerful high end mobile amp.

Ditto!
I tried Fiio E5, MF V-can and plugged them in a dell monitor (between the PC and cans). No combination sounded better than straight from Sansa Fuze. So indeed I am 99 % happy with DT 1350.
By the way, when DT 1350 are properly sealed, their bass is plentiful for me -- but I mainly listen to Lowthers.

Reasonably so, but modding improves extension.

and more bass right? I feel like getting a basshead can next, considering this d1100 and v-moda m100 or lp2 if either ends up bassy enough. i mean the hd25 with bass boost on my iphone suffices my bass cravings.

Yes, the HDJ-2000 gets bassier with modding.

It's a very solid all-rounder.

sorry for all the questions XD but how does the modded and non modded hdj2000 compare to the xb700, because odly enough I liked em, they had a decent amount of flaws, but after what I heard about them and what I expected I was impressed, the bass did not bleed 0o scary right. The treble was slightly harsh at times, and the it lacked detail overall.

In terms of bass quantity... XB700 > HDJ-2000mod > HDJ-2000
quality... HDJ-2000mod > HDJ-2000 = XB700

The treble on the modded Pioneer is quite well controlled and doesn't spike very much.

The XB700 isn't the kind of headphone that's designed for dissecting your music. It's a little bass cannon that's meant to be fun and slam your brain around with lots of bass. I own the XB700 and I find it lacking in the mids and it also lacks detail. The XB700 is a very thick warm gooey sound.

It's one of my more favorite headphones and I agree with Armaegis statement that it's a very good all arounder.
