I never realized they were such a beauty.
I'm curious as to why you only compared ED8's bass with the LCD2, but not other aspects? Is it because the bass is the only thing on the ED8 that's in the same league as the LCD2, while T1 and HE-5 are closer in quality overall to the LCD2?
I'm getting very close to ordering a pair of LCD2, since it seems it's beating out pretty much all the best dynamic headphones currently available (while costing less too). Once I see some compelling comparisons with the Stax flagship models, I'll be making a decision to either get the LCD2 or a Stax system.
Great review Rob. I value you elaboration on the amping issue. Could I please have your opinion on solid state amps, and if you still have the Phoenix, your take on the pairing.
Thanks.
I wonder if something like a replacement DT-880 leather headband cover with snaps would fit over the LCD-2 foam?
Why do I keep reading this site, I have budgeted off money for the SR007 this year, but I've been curious about the tesla sound and preordered the T50p to get a small idea, but the more and more I read about the LCD-2, the less I can resist the urge to pick up a pair this year.
I think I might need to join the others and sell an organ. I mean do I REALLY need two kidneys?
Naah, and having two lungs is overrated as well. I believe the liver can be partially removed too but you only get paid if you weren't much of a party animal.
All that together could get you a WES + 007 me thinks. Plus you'll have some nice time off to enjoy them. Typical win/win situation.
One lung in the Rockies altitude?
I could use an extra lung, seeing as my left one is now useless... But I'm not sure I want to give up my WES and O2 for one.
The WES and the O2's really do not have great synergy. Believe it or not, I found the Omega SR-Lambda Pros and El_Doug's
original Omegas sounded better. The WES is a little bit laid back and so are the Omega II's.
Thanks! I think the answer to your questions about the 650 lover would be yes. I don't see any similarities between the K701 and the LCD-2, but I have not owned the K701 in several years.
The LCD-2 is in a league far above either of those headphones, though - that is for sure.
When you say "for sure", does that mean it sounds different from the 600 and 701 and you prefer that difference?
In my opinion, the LCD-2 offer both a naturalness and transparency that those headphones do not approach. And yes, I prefer that
