Everyone: If you remember a few months back I found someone developing new Planar Magnetic headphones. Well if you are attending the upcoming CanJam '09 in LA you will be lucky enough to see them for their world unveiling and have a chance to demo them. I really hope someone does and reports back to us here in the thread. The Company is called Audeze, and they will be at Catalina 2B. There should be some guys called Alex and Sankar running the stand. Say hello to em for me (and a shout out to the ortho thread!) if you get a chance to go there! I am not sure if I am allowed to post the website and all the details yet.... What the heck I'll post the specs and blurb, it is free advertising after all |

Originally Posted by xsankar /img/forum/go_quote.gif Just wanted to post some more information on the headphone. This is our first attempt at making this and we have tried to create these within our limited means. We took an off the shelf open dynamic headphone and removed innards. Designed our planar magnetic driver to fit exactly into this existing headphone. (i.e. we made the transducer, but the headband and cups are from some other headphone ). The diaphragm is 5 micron thick and the conductive traces on top are 5 micron thick as well. The traces cover more than 80% of the area. It is a push-pull design (i.e. magnets are on both sides of the diaphragm). We will have a couple of small amplifiers (within our means and two working models. we plan to have one on the table and the other one can be taken around so people can listen to them with their own equipment. As I mentioned in the other thread, we are just starting this. We hope we can get some great feedback from CanJam. |
