This helps clarify a few things, primarily that the drivers are graphene oxide.

It was definitely a worthwhile read.

I am a little disappointed to find out that the graphene oxide used in the Ora drivers only has 10% of the stiffness of pure graphene.

With that said, I totally understand that the technology is in its infancy and that we are all early adopters on the cutting edge of the technology.

I’m sure 20 years from now, we’ll look back and view these headphones as the equivalent of a horse drawn carriage compared to whatever graphene technology exists in 2040.

the graphene oxide used in the Ora drivers only has 10% of the stiffness of pure graphene.

And the resulting diaphragm is even lower - 6.5%, which is lower than aluminium. I think they've reduced the thickness of the diaphragm or something because in earlier articles the spec was double that - 130GPa (example).

At this point I have to wonder how closely production performance will match the tests shown in the Kickstarter/Indiegogo, which showed amazing, near-ideal performance.

47 days and counting!! That is, assuming the shipping company doesn’t have some unforeseen disaster.

I’m hype. Address updated and counting down the days.

Let’s headphones nerd recap here:

They’re tuned based on the Harman curve. But warmer mids and a little extra bass oomph. Acoustics of the pads/housing tuned & optimized.

Fast AF, Efficient AF: Closer to Beryllium than Aluminum in performance metrics (Young’s modulus & figure of merit)

High onboard power, quality DAC, latest Bluetooth -AND- USB-C Audio
...OR -PASSIVE- analog input for your DAC/AMP/DAP desires

“All screws, no glues” - you can repair and replace with normal household tools, including standard available batteries

I’m hype gentleman

Oh, they said the batteries are replaceable too? I missed wherever that part is, that's very nice indeed. Batteries don't last forever, rechargeable or not. It's nice to know that when they aren't able to hold a charge well many years down the line, you could just open it up and put in new ones off the shelf without too much fuss (hopefully).

I ain't holding my breath on the delivery, woulda died 20,000 times over.
