Thanks for the reply. Care to say why?
I have never been keen on Sony products.
Currently I use an Onkyo DAC/Amp that I like. I am hoping that the DPX-1 has a similar sound.

All I can say is that the time I spent with DP-x1, any 3rd party app will make the player react in a weird way, and that includes Tidal. Some moments it would play just fine, and some other moment it would has distortions and or crackling sounds, very weird. Sometimes I had to totally hard reset the device. Some Others also has problems with 3rd party apps, and some doesn't. I never had problems with Zx2 or other owners, so I am saying it is safe to assume that zx2 is more friendly toward 3rd party app ?

I have found no issues with Tidal yet It uses the same app I use on all my Android devices and offers exactly the same experience.
I cannot comment on the Zx2 as being a DAP I have had not the slightest interest in, I have never tried it, so I am not sure but I assume it would be using the same universal Android Tidal app version 1.8.7
I'm sure the iPhone sounds decent enough, but do take care and read through the thread and see what you think about the 3rd party app issues. I also ran Neutron on the Onkyo with no trouble and currently I'm using XTZ DSP player with my Divine headphones with no issues at all. So for me with 3 different third party apps no issues ever.

It listed all my library as favorites. So I have to delete manually one by one songs that are not my favorite. Not a feasible solution if you have like 5k songs on your library in which most people have at least few thousands song on their library
Did you select 'Replace Up Next' via the 3 dots to start a new queue? If you just click on any song to start playback, it just list all songs in library.
So what things are most appealing to you about the Onkyo? Like with any device there will be good and bad so really knowing what is most important to you will really help guide your decision. There are many solid DAP choices now, most seem to offer excellent sound quality overall, personal preferences aside.
Make sure you have wi-fi up and running.
Go to Play Store on main screen.
Search for onkyo music player.
Scroll down to Music (app - Onkyo Corporation), will have installed in green next to it.
Click on it and update.
Easy.
