I once told my fiancee about 200€ pair of headphones I got; never again. And I've moved on to significantly more expensive stuff.

You and I both. My spending per item is now averaging 15-20x the purchases in my earlier days :p

Probably because of the ridiculously large chain;
Source -> *insert expensive cable-* -> DAC -> *insert expensive cable* -> Pre-Amplifier *insert expensive cable* -> Amplifier -> *insert expensive cable* -> headphone

Not to mention the amount of money we spent on music albums :D

I actually tried a pair of Beats Mixr's yesterday just for fun. Compared to my P5's, they sounded very veiled in the midrange and had too much bass, which made everything sound muffled and congested. My mother even said the same thing.

I can't fathom how people pay retail price for those things and think that they are the best things ever. I really can't.

Because mids and treble don't matter, only bass!

Wait, if anything I thought the Mixrs had too much in the 5k range and a huge peak at around 10k. Were they plugged into a Beats station?

Surprisingly enough my friends are rather receptive to the anti beats thing. One bought the PortaPro, and Klipsch Reference S4i, another the Sony MDR-ZX100 another the Monoprice 9927, and I gave another the same 9927.

why would you be anti-beats? The solo 2's and studio 2's are great. Studio 2's have just as much detail as a v-moda m100 in all honesty, yet v-moda doesn't get bashed? Meh. Neither are worth it IMO anyways. I just wont blatantly hate them either.
