New Audeze LCD3

Well, i honestly don't know what to get for the sub $1000 range (not just amp, but dac too), and I heard good things about the wa7. I prefer SS for amps but w/e, any other suggestions then? Oh and I may need them to pair with the hd800 well too, I may get them as a compliment

DACmini may pair well with 3, but does not pair well with 800 based on sound signature. (Caveat: WA7 based on comments, DACmini I heard, but not with 800).
3 and 800 are going to different direction, its quite tricky to find amp that sound signature match both at the same time.

I tried lcd3 at the store, the sound is good (with BCL and Bel Canto cd spinner), but the headband size is too small for my large head, even at max setting.
Anyone experience the same? Any solution?

They have these:

Wow! Thanks Mac! This is exactly what I need. I am hesitant to consider '3 because of the comfort, now that they have this, have to go back to the shop and re-evaluate more seriously. I'll bring my 2.1 to compare.

No worries.

I always wondered why the long posts or something in between the two wasn't the standard.  I am also at the very end of the headband reach and in the past Audeze would just send you the posts but in the last year or so they have started to monetize what should be an option on purchase if not just standard equipment like the two cables.

Decent price, what kind of sound does the dacmini have?

It has punchy, exciting, fun bass, sparkling, smooth treble, reportedly a bit bright for HD800, (YMMV), that's why it's good match for LCD2.
It's standard output impedance is 10 ohms, you can opt to lower the output impedance to 1 ohm, but that makes it a bit brighter.

Just when I start thinking about selling these, they start doing good. Guitars get my vote on the LCD-3. Rap is sounding good as well surprisingly on the LCD-3's (thanks DG). Electronic music is still nowhere as good as it was on the LCD-2's, but it's coming along. Hopefully it will get better and more to my liking with upgrades in the system.

I'll be auditioning it with some Bursons, although alongside with the TH-900. If TH-900 does really good, then the LCD-3's might still go.
