Thanks Mace, the article is very convincing, and full of data that supports its following statement:
 

"measurements in the treble region appear to be strongly influenced by the position of the headphones on the head". ​

I just joined the LCD-3 club. The difference from LCD-2 is just phenomenal. I expected way less... One more happy customer

I wasn't exactly sure how much better the 3s might actually be -but- I knew I wanted some improvement and the 3s definitely provided more improvement than I hoped for. Much more in fact.

Got a pair for Father's Day, currently driven off my DACmini.  Compared to my HD650's, it is incredibly effortless with tighter and more extended bass.  Only about 40 hours in...keeps getting better.
