Got a pair for Father's Day, currently driven off my DACmini.  Compared to my HD650's, it is incredibly effortless with tighter and more extended bass.  Only about 40 hours in...keeps getting better. :)

Your story is like mine: made the leap from the HD650 to the LCD-3.

I will sum it up like this: I don't miss anything I liked on the HD650 with the Audeze and I found everything I was (secretly) hoping for in the LCD-3 !

I really need to start just keeping these things instead of selling them BUT I also think they change them over time so... meh.

LOL!

I can relate to that.

Just got back from a camping trip.  LCD-3's were waiting for me.  Compared to the LCD-2 Bamboo, they have a high-end feel.

Time to sell the LCD-2.2 to get some of your $$$ back..

Thinking about it, though it seems there are a lot of them for sale these days.  I guess Audeze has a good model: suck them in with the LCD-2's and then go for the kill with the LCD-3's.

Yup, that's just how they got me..  Hook Line and Sinker..

I lasted nearly a year before I got the urge, but once I got it, it wasn't long before I found a good deal on a pair and voila, they got me.  Touche, Audeze.  Touche.

Yep get drawn in with the LCD2.2s and realize there could be more goodness to be had and there you have it... The LCD3s are on the way!
;0)

And you don't even realize what you missed until you listen to the LCD-3's :)

And I will never realize what's missing in the LCD-2 since I've never had the opportunity to listen to them but, as I understand reading all your comments, I've made the right decision by buying the LCD-3 immediately instead of starting with the 2 :)

Well I was going to buy the 3s to start with and then I started reading many reviews and the general consensus was that yes the 3s were better but that it was like only 1 or 2% so I bought the 2.2s to start with. And they are really good phones. But I had to try the 3s and so glad I did because they are far better than 1 or 2%. I can only imagine how they will sound after 400 to 500 hours on them with the Silver Widow cable. They are so deeply immersive I have just never heard music in this way except at live concerts or jam sessions and that is saying something I think...

Yup. The only thing that you missed out on is the bass quantity of the LCD-2s. These things could kick harder as well by a bit, but that's about it.

The really strange thing is that my LCD-3's seem to have more bass than my LCD-2's :)

Let me change that to more mid bass kick on the LCD-2 and a bit more sub bass on the LCD-3. Better bass quality all around by a decent margin on the LCD-3.

Noted improvement in detailing and a lack of "muddiness" I detected at times with the 2.2s. I will never know if the Silver Widow cable might have rectified that since I chose not to wait to receive the cable (extremely long wait time) but will see how it works on the LCD3s.
