I think I read somewhere that the DAC in the 380D and the 430HAD was the same.

I think I read that somewhere also....although in reality I beleive its more in line with the 280D.

Hi there~ the Simaudio MOON 430HA looks very nice. Has anyone heard it pairs with Mr Speaker's Ether? or LCD4 / X? or HD800?

By all means I use balance output only... The price are very similar to the GSX MK2, how would you compare 430HA to the GSX?

Looking forward to you guys' opinions. :)

Best Regards
Yan

I use the 430HA with the HD800's and the LCD-X. Each is a wonderful pairing. The GSX MK2 is also a great amp, however, I find it a bit to concise for me. I hear more music as a comprehensive experience than the GSX which, for me, seems to break things out more into component parts. as always YMMV.

Anyone tried this amp balanced out with Ether or LCD4? :)

Well we could assume that Tyll used the LCD4 / 430HA pairing to formulate his glowing LCD4 review.

Hopefully someone will chime in with first hand experiences.

I own the LCD-4 and have a 430 on order...I am assuming that if you do not like the sound of the LCD-4 you wont like it through the 430 but if you do like the sound you will indeed like it....I see no reason why the amp should be considered first rate with all other cans but not the LCD-4

Do you find that the 430HA sounds slow and lack of punch? As some people recommended me V281 instead of the 430HA. I'm confused now...:frowning2:

PS: main headphone I gonna use is Ether open back version.

Cheers

The 430 never sounds slow or lack punch. It is a reference device.

Hey Eric. Do you mean that you can upgrade the DAC in the 430 to a 380? I hope not, I hope so....

Ha! I hear ya...

No, you cannot upgrade the 430HA DAC to the 380D. The DAC board for the 430HA has the same DAC and surrounding circuitry as the stand alone DAC but without the higher quality independent power supplies. The 380D is another level and is priced accordingly.
