Mid-Fi Closed Portable Headphone Battle 2012 Discussion V3 [FINAL]

I'm having a good headphone problem. I'm about to go out for a walk and I cannot decide which headphone to bring with me- M-100 or UE6000.  For me, my headphone need is completely filled with both of these.  Any upcoming releases I would listen to would be based on general curiosity rather than a desire to find something better because I felt like something was lacking in my present headphones.

New add for the AKG Tiesto line. I feel like they're the last real challenge to to M-100 in quality.

What a curious choice of headphones. All are of the popular, fashionable, designy kind. Why are there no classics like the D2000, HD25-1 II, ESW9 etc?

This is explained in the original post.

An aside, I'd consider the ESW9 to be of the "fashionable/designy" variety.  That is one sexy, distinctly-colored (sonically) headphone!

Ok. The original post says it's about "exciting and new" headphones. I think it would make sense to include the classics too. How would you know what to compare one of these exciting and new headphones to, sonically, without some reference to a classic? I mean, all I'd want to know is if any one of these is better than my HD25-1 II. :)

You're free to compare these headphones to any of your stated "classics" in your review of the headphones, and I actually would love you doing that if you did end up getting any. Comparison is one of the best ways for people to get a feeling of what the new headphones are like, and I plan to compare the m-100 to my m50 once I get it today, and again once it is burned in, in my review later on.

Are you sure that's not because the first shipment was pre-ordered? Front-End Audio has them set for a November 5th release.

B&H still says 12/25 for the K267, but 10/25 for the K167, so if that is coming out sooner, maybe someone could audition the K167 in the meantime to at least have some sense of the Tiesto line signature?

Thing is, the K167 is completely different than the K267. No adjustable bass, smaller/different driver, less padding, different impedance. I doubt they would sound the same as the K267.

So after owning D600 for a while and trying UE600 and M-100 I can say that D600 are best for me while M-100 are close behind but I think that because of size and shape of earpad M-100 will have comfort/best fit issues for some people, wish earpad's size and shape would be like Harman Kardan BT. Since I'm looking for headphones with best passive isolation possible for every day subway use I'm interested to see what K267 and MDR-1R can offer

Although the earcup size is nice, I think it's over-the-top. Even my dad was like "What; who has ears that long?"
