Did the Bass mod. I used Elmers poster putty... or something to that effect, I completely removed the center sticky, and I'm getting way to much bass.., so my conclusion, even bassheads would be happy, going to tame these down a bit, wonder if a small shaft with cam shaped felt pad that you could adjust the bass, completely open them up or go back to sealed stock. I think I could fab a working model, Ill do some drawings and figure it out. Need to re read the mod threads to see what you guys are using to adjust the hole. I did remove and re-soldered in the connector side speaker wires(they are very fragile),If anyone breaks the wire PM me and I can help.

Interesting! And regarding the wires being fragile, that's exactly why I keep bailing: I don't have soldering skittles to fix them in the event that I break them.

Anyway, looking forward to what you come up with!

Yeah I was having similar opinions with the amount of bass. I think bass is affected by how obstructed the hole is because more airflow will allow the driver to move more freely... not an expert in these matters but I think that has some effect. Try using different materials to cover the hole.

In my post above I mentioned that I used 2 layers of party streamer lol. I tried one layer which was a bit too bassy, foam was  way too bassy (lesser than original but still tons), and tape made it anemic in bass. I think a cotton pad was the closest to stock I found since I kind of destroyed the original paper haha. Its great being able to tune these things by experimenting with different materials.
I also used cotton pads on the back of the cup which, expectedly, tamed the treble though I wasn't happy with the lack of sparkle... made things kind of dull so yeah.

For the resoldering did you just desolder the original wire from the pcb and match them with the contacts on the other side? oh and stringing the wire through the headband wasn't too difficult was it? I'm guessing there's a hollow tube or something.

Edit: Oh and wayne, the wires aren't that fragile (as long as you're decently careful). I've opened and closed them a ton of times and I'm still using the original wires since they've stayed intact. In other words: do it

Ok, that's somewhat reassuring. I know that Lorspeaker must have opened and closed his approx 1000 times as well, and I don't think he's broken the wires yet. So good to know.

About the bass being too much, I'm a bit confused because Lorspeaker and Pataburd haven't complained about too much bass with the HOLE completely opened up. Maybe the way Lorspeaker dampened the cups is how he's controlling the bass?

I need a little badge for my Bass head pair, is anyone really good in graphics design and have a 3D printer.. or some kind of cool little badge so I can tell my pairs apart. This set will be my extreme bass set, probably rocks on Bluray, just got "Gravity" last night, amazing almost everything is animated, I have watched a few movies before, particularly Elisium and Thor The dark World, My surround amp runs off the hdmi audio, so I can tap the RCA's to my predator and Mikros. Gravity has some disturbing bass that really had me wondering what was going on. Had them turned up a bit to loud, but you know how movie mixes can be, extremely loud scenes catching me off guard.

Recent mp3's I have gotten from Amazon have been 320k...some I have gotten in the past were lower (some at 192k).  I don't know if they have increased all to 320 or if it varies across the spectrum of what they offer.  A lot of discs on Amazon come with Auto Rip...you by the disc and you can download the mp3's immediately...pretty nice feature as you don't have to wait for the mail to arrive to hear your tunes.  Personally...I always buy the disc because (1) I like to have it my hands and read liner notes etc. when I am listening (2) I live in a constant irrational state fear of my hard drive crashing (yes I back-up...to another hard drive...no real comfort there) and I lose music that it has taken me many years to collect, and (3) they just sound better.  I can't speak to iTunes as I don't normally purchase music from them...I prefer Amazon.

Thks bro...much appreciated !

I only removed the wire from the PCB, didn't mess with the head band wire. To be fair I have only played P.O.D. on the modded pair, and I think the mix is a bit bass heavy. I don't want to jump to any conclusions without listening to Patricia Barber and some of my other really good recordings. I am a bit giddy.. and I am Oafish and clumsy sometimes , oh ya back to the wire, I did accidentally break it, to aggressive of a putty job, but good news they are working perfect, so even if you have potatoes for fingers like me, its pretty easy, hardest part is aligning screws.. or getting the elastic little band out of the way of the screw holes.  I am listening to a better recording and the Bass seems just fine, so like always the MIkros is very source dependent, so far so good.  Sorry, I might have over reacted.. jumped to a conclusion.

Here is a potentially useful article for you regarding itunes vs amazon vs google play:
http://digwhich.com/2014/02/14/best-online-music-store/

Other notes:

- soundcloud: most often at 320kbps. You can download many of them, so look for the "download" button.

- bandcamp: is a great source for unique and new music. The albums are usually well priced, and quite often they are "name your price", which means zero if you want. Also, they can be downloaded in 320kbps mp3 format, or flac lossless format - your choice. For example, here's a few interesting "name your price" albums:
https://thepolishambassador.bandcamp.com/album/quests-end
https://photocomfort.bandcamp.com/album/photocomfort
https://aesthesys.bandcamp.com/album/ascendere

- ektoplazm: really cool "free and legal psytrance, techno, and downtempo music in MP3, FLAC, and WAV format". Here's just a few of the many that I like:
http://www.ektoplazm.com/free-music/hinkstep-sunrise-from-the-treetops
http://www.ektoplazm.com/free-music/phone-booth-robbers-falling-into-one
http://www.ektoplazm.com/free-music/amygdala-modus-operandi
http://www.ektoplazm.com/free-music/sephira-imagination-in-motion (forward to the Learning To Walk track)

- the Official Free FLAC File Music Sharing Thread is a great thread for finding free flac tunes. I really have enjoyed these ones that I discovered in that thread:
https://archive.org/details/cj2009-10-05.ku100_at37 (Cowboy Junkies)

Knowing what I know now, I would pay the full retail price if I had to.    The Mikros 90 is not a budget/value model (although it is priced that way right now)...and it can go up against the best portable headphones in the $200-$400 range.

I had a hard time convincing myself my d7k is better since the latest mod.
A/B for an hour. MikrosHearThruBass sounds jus as big..strong..
with more forward mids.

It killed my T1 last week..i am still in denial.
Tot my T1 sounded perforated.

This is the most perplexing thread on the site.

I think that pretty much any thread that Sfwalcer has started gets that reward!
