iFi GOld bar has a MSRP of US$499, so it will be the 2nd most expensive dongle if RMB2999 holds true.So it may be the most expensive dongle in the world, really looking forward to seeing how it performs
Coincidentally, the original release price of W2 is RMB1980, which 1.55x is 3069

Beautiful design, nothing wrong with my W2 but I may buy this one also. 400 mW@32 ohm is great achievement but they need to sort their website for firmware updates.

I recalled from the W2 thread some 2 yrs ago that I said they are brilliant engineer but really need to improve their service side of the business. Evidencially the statement still holds as true as it has ever been.

I still enjoy my W2, but it certainly lacks some refinement which this may bring. But we're also slowly itching upwards to another price bracket ie mojo2 territory. Yes I know for factor is still different but performance comparisons will be inevitable.
The thing I wonder is if they will do it in two versions W1/W2 or a single version that obviously concentrates everything at a higher price.
I think the thing that made the success of the W1/W2 was the fact that at a significantly lower price these dacs could be compared to much more expensive daps (mid-tier). But now that we have reached the psychological threshold of 500 dollars, what should this new DAC be compared to (top-tier)? We will see...

I'm surprised nobody is as excited about the power efficiency of their new chip which brings out over 400mW of power yet the current draw from the source (like your smartphone) will be 1/2 of W2. Meaning, you will not drain your phone as fast AND, hopefully, will have a better compatibility with your iPhones (due to their limitation) to push the volume higher. That is a big deal!
In post #18 i said what a great achievement for 400 mW@32 ohm. Let's wait to hear more about itI'm surprised nobody is as excited about the power efficiency of their new chip which brings out over 400mW of power yet the current draw from the source (like your smartphone) will be 1/2 of W2. Looks interesing but make we wonder about the power drain but looks very nice (albeit most powerful is good)Yeah it is a dongle so no internal battery.
Edit: For the record, W2 has an output of 235mW, which at the time was the most powerful dongle.

With this and Dita audio Navigator, it would be a great year for dongle fans.

That's what I just mentioned above, they almost doubled the output power and reduced current draw (power drain from your source) by a half. So, it should help to lower the drain of your smartphone battery and for iPhone users you can push the volume higher before you hit the limit.Looks interesing but make we wonder about the power drain but looks very nice (albeit most powerful is good)
