Hi everyone,

Today, LP announced their successor to their very popular usb dongle W1/W2. Right now, we know that it is using their first ever in-house developed chip LP5108, which allows them to achieve significant performance improvement in dynamics, THD, driving power, while cutting the power consumption by half!

More information will be revealed soon, and I will keep updating here. :)

FW Update Info
2023-06-28 (W4_V1.0.1.6_AS.bin)

  1. IE900 headphone-specific tuning supported by FPGA hardware.
  2. DSD512 hardware decoding support. Due to chip specification differences, only W4 supports this. Please note that playing DSD512 increases power consumption, which may affect your phone's battery life.
  3. Resolved the screen flickering issue when some units are paired with iPhones at low battery levels.
  4. Improved compatibility with third-party cables.
2023-05-31 (W4_V1.0.1.2_AS.bin)

1) Improve smartphone app compatibility, i.e. discontinuing during playback.

2) Fixed noise issue during certain DSD playback.

3) Reduce / eliminate click and pop noise on single-ended output when changing songs.

4) Support PCM 768kHz sampling rate, only for W4.

2023-05-10
1) 8 Gen 2 compatibility fix, also extends to include W1 / W2 series.

2) W4' DSD playback voltage issue fix.

3) IE600 EQ added

4) Fixed issue regarding random pause on some source during lengthy playback.

Since most of the users cannot
download FW files directly from their official webpage, I have downloaded these files and then upload them to google drive so that everyone can access them.

General FW Update Steps (only for Windows 7/10/11 ATM).
  1. Download the FW update package (google drive link here, or you can find them on Musicteck's webpage or LP's website).
  2. Connect W4 to your PC.
  3. Install the driver (LuxuryPrecision_setup_WHQL_20210510.exe and Windows 7 drivers if necessary).
  4. Install and run the FW update tool (ISP_Tool.exe) with the FW file (for example, W4_V1.0.0.8_AS_2023.5.10.bin). Both files are under the “W4” folder there.
  5. In case the upgrade fails or your device is bricked, install this rescue driver.
You only need to install the driver and FW update tool once. For future FW updates, you can simply load the latest FW file to the FW update tool.

To check your current FW version. Enter the UAC mode of the device and then long press the volume knob.

Doesn't seem that it has internal battery, but capable of pushing 400mW? Color me interested.

Yeah it is a dongle so no internal battery.

Edit: For the record, W2 has an output of 235mW, which at the time was the most powerful dongle. :)

Wow, love the design! Looks almost like an A&K device! I am wondering if it is heavy?

I asked around in my local audio group members who have access to Chinese groups, apparently around 2999 RMB (435 USD). With currency adjustments, probably will cost a bit more than that. This is unconfirmed btw.

So it may be the most expensive dongle in the world, really looking forward to seeing how it performs
