That's probably true. If you have a $50 phono cart, obviously don't waste your money on a $200 NM MFN copy of Blackwater. Where vinyl really lets you down is when its just a CD master adaptation, as was the case with the SubRosa vinyl.
What's funny is the original press of Still Life has similar production problems as the original CD, and yet it goes for serious cash, while the recent re-press is actually an improvement over the original and its affordable as well. That's a case where the typical "first press is always best, and worth insane money" wisdom is completely wrong.
Never heard MFN or MOV of Deliverance but the 2X 180 gram Koch release is all I could ever ask for as far as sound. I can't even put into words the difference from CD. There is a ton of crappy vinyl out there but the Koch is a treasure in my humble opinion. If everything was the same price then it would cause questions. It's just that this stuff is rare and hard to find. As a plan, someone could order all three and listen to them and sell the rest used.
You are also going to find equipment will do 90% of the sound in comparison to record pressings. Only after putting together an optimal rig does any of this really matter. Simply changing a set of headphones or a cable is going to be much more dynamic than any difference in pressing.
