Is the dx100 a good portable dap for the summer? Just to put in my pocket? Too big?

It's great for all seasons just get big pockets. When youre at home it's also good enough to use as a stand alone device or as a line out to your head amp or external dac. It's big because it's got a decent amp in it.

I've always been fine with the size, but depending on how hot it is outside, the DX100 can get pretty hot if you trap it in a small case or pocket.

Minesl's survived a few summers now. It ocasionally crashes when switching between bitrates but it restarts again and is back on track

Yep, it's pretty sturdy; mine's still going strong, especially after a battery swap!

How to change the battery of this DAP?

Unscrew all 4 screws from the sides.
Use a tiny screwdriver poke into the screw hole close to power button and pry down.
There will be a gap once you pry down, use guitar pick, card, knife or - screwdriver to slowly pry open the gap along the side.
You can change the battery by pulling the wires.

not sure about screen, but you can get battery from ibasso themselves.

The only two "summer" issues I have with the excellent DX100 are

• that the screen is not that bright and can be difficult to read in direct sunlight and 
• the device gets very warm

in winter the warmth is a bonus....

Does anyone know where I could get another battery for the DX100?  Recently got one in a trade with a fellow head-fier and wanted to see if a new battery would help with the battery life.  I tried emailing iBasso but they didn't really respond to me.

Hey Sashimi, I did e-mail to iBasso regarding if the new battery will have larger capacity to increase the iBasso DX100 play time. The have the same battery. What I did was, I was using a power bank with 10K mAh. Let me know if this helps.

Depending on how long you have charged the iBasso dx100, the battery will certainly degrade, so replacing it won't hurt. Just replaced mines yesterday, extended the battery life pretty far.
So ibasso didn't respond to you...wierd 

 
The iBasso website can be buggy, so your message might not be able to get across. 
Just email them directly at service@ibasso.com .
If you want a battery just ask them - battery costs 20 dollars with shipping.
