I'm very eagerly awaiting your impressions - my Merlins are on their way and I'm trying to allocate the funds for a Dx100...

too bad bro. i'm sending back my merlins back to UM for changing the design since they've made a mistake with the color. so i'm hoping i can have it back in time just before my dx100 becomes available.

I know the it has been said that the battery lasts between 7 and 9 hrs, I guess this is with headphones attached, Has anyone tried using the line out to an external amp? I am wondering if this will increase battery life. Also I am sure this has been discussed but you can listen and charge at the same time right?

There is not much difference that I have found in battery run time between using the line-out and using headphone out. Yes, one can listen and charge at the same time.

It helps battery run time to turn off all the unused Android features like Wi-Fi, Sync (background data), Wireless networks, etc.

What kind of battery do you get with all of that off? My old Samsung Galaxy S (Sprint version, Epic 4G) with a good custom ROM got around 8-10 hours on a charge before I got a new phone. After that, running it in airplane mode that went to over 7 days on a charge.

C4 is not nearly as good as the Hifiman 801 nor 601. Hifiman 601 aint that much better  then the Cowon D2. The 601 and 801 cant push enough volume compared to the Cowon D2.

Preordering was the worst idea ever. The anticipation is killing me, I don’t think I will be able to last another month…. Unless someone posts some more photos/videos/reviews of the DX100.

Showing off that dirty magnesium.

It may be time for a longer and better vid of the DX100.  If I can get my DSLR to be a happy camcorder for a few minutes and not an angry brute with a foot-long lens on the front.  It may be the only way that you will survive until March.

Why is it every non-marketing picture of the DX100 that I see has the unit soaked dust, lint, crumbs, etc. Is it from the packaging? Or is the DX100 really just one big dust magnet?

That happens when you use cameras that are revealing. What do you expect?

Just to keep the fires going, iBasso will have the DX100 User Manual available for download shortly. That should make your month go faster!
