At least on this computer, lowering buffers to 25-50 ms was the fix
Is the MicroStreamer supposed to sound better than the Music Streamer II? The Music Streamer II is a couple years older by now.
Haven't had any issues with my MS, also the #1 most interesting thing I've paired with my DT990's so far. Meridian seems to be a bit better overal and more detailed. But the way the MS navigates the mid's through my Beyer is magical; as if they're boosted, but in a very natural way. Also brings depth into every set up, be it speakers or headphones, unlike the MusicStreamer 2 I had for a whil... Sincere kudo's on this one, HRT!
Would you say the Explorer has more bass than the MS? How is the Meridian soundstage/presentation-wise?
So what would you recommend to go with AKG K550 headphones? Both the HRT and Meridian get good reviews but is the Meridian worth the extra money?
Also, what kind of audio files are you guys using?
I've heard several head fi really like the HRT Micro with the K550. Look at the HRT Microstreamer thread. There are several comments about the synergy with K550.
The HD650 will be better paired with HRT Microstreamer. The HRT Microstreamer has a slight upper midrange emphasis to me, that will complement the HD650.
It's why the LCD-2 also sounds more lively with the HRT Microstreamer. The Meridian Explorer is more even and smooth through out. But this is to my ears.
