I run Roon on a QNAP server that has USB outputs (I use one most effectively with my Chord Hugo DAC).

I want to make my Sennheiser HDVD 800 a Roon endpoint. It is on another floor, and I am sure that if I ran a USB wire, I could do this.

However, is there a way to do it wirelessly, maintaining sufficient bit rate for hi res audio? I have read about wireless USB, but it seems I would need a computer, rather than a dongle, on the DAC receiving end.

Use a Raspberry Pi as your endpoint. There's a few different OS options that would allow you to connect the Pi to Roon, and USB to the Senn.

No, exactly the reverse.

ROON sees the Pi over the network as a ROON endpoint. This is the trick to make a wireless connection between the NAS and the Pi.
The Senn is connected to the Pi over the USB

Raspberry Pi is basically a mini PC. It runs regular WiFi or wired LAN. Your music streams from the Roon just like. It is streaming to a computer. There are no major wireless constraints
