Hello, can anyone tell me if the 400 are supposed to be very bright? I can't listen to them because they are too bright.
They shouldn't be. Your V6 should be considerable brighter.

I get ringing on my ear just a few minutes of listening to re400 and also v6 is getting brighter.
Ok, I will try that if I don't manage to sell them soon. Thanks.Add more filters over the opening and it should help. The RE-600's were a tad bright to me but once I added another filter over the existing one, it toned it down just right for me. Iv'e even read people putting using tissue paper or toilet paper? See if that helps?

I will try that, thanks. Before you play with filters or sell them, I'd recommend to try the Sensaphonics seal test.
Sometimes, even experienced IEM users think they have a good seal when they actually haven't. A less than perfect seal may lead to bass drop and increased treble resonance.
Well I just received my pair, I purchased these direct from HIFIMAN via Amazon. I love the sound but as good as the sound is, the cable's lower part after the split is the worst thing I have ever seen. It looks and feels like it has been through hell or it's just really bad quality control or a returned refurbished unit.
It has 9 kinks/bulges in it that I counted. I can’t believe this is normal? If you slide your hands across the cable it’s not smooth but you hit/feel these bumps. I looked closely and they appear to be the cable beneath sticking out though the sleeve. Some look like burns. This is only on the lower part after the split to the jack. The upper part after the split is fine.
I have email this to picture to HIFIMAN's support to see what their reply is.
Well I got my replacements yesterday and they are much better. Hats off to HIFIMAN support.
Good for you
Good for you dude. Hope you dont need anymore replacements. Seems like I bash their build quality, but I really adore their sound quality

I had my local headphone store recable my re600. All I get now is the great sound quality without the worry/hassle of cable dying on me
