Looks like your setup is a hit, gurus.  What kind of amp is that in the meet pictures & your avatar?

And is your HE-6 hardwired by Zues or just a custom cable?

The HE-6 was only  driven by a Marantz Vintage integrated PM-84D-35 watts Class A/140 watts Class AB  @8 ohms at the meet. The amp in my avatar is a DIY Pete Millett's SRPP amp to drive the K1000s. Since I sold the AKGs long time ago I slightly modified it to drive the T1s by reducing the gain in the circuit and a couple of other changes courtesy of Pete Millett.

No, I did not hard wire my HE-6, though I was real tempted to initially. It's a custom cable and it got me soundwise where I wanted to be so the  hardwiring project is off for the time being.

Cool.  I was wondering what the behemoth was as well, good to know.

What I like about my tube amp with the HE-6 is that it is not lean in the upper bass and low mids.

I don't like too much lower mids / upper bass because it sounds veiled. On the other hand if there is too little it'll sound lean, as you say.
In that context my Audio-gd Master-6 (and Ref 7.1) is solid state and has full sounding mids: quite a bit of low mids / upper bass, but not too much.
I would even call it creamy or lush as they say aobut the LCD-2/3.

Yup, the main power supply filter caps.  The SX-1250 (which is the silver version of that receiver above) is one of the all time classics.  I have one and I can tell you it drives the HE-6 very well

That is simply amazing. Looks so clean too!

the 5590 was sold only to the Military on military installation mostly in Europe. It is the rarest beast and I had seen one and there was an issue so I had passed should got it because they rarely come up and when they do they are expensive. Nice receiver

I thought the 2270 was fine at the time, but the 1250/5590 really takes it to another level.  I definitely believe the HE-6 is a black hole, it will take whatever you throw at it.  The headphones really rock now.

They are not easy to break. One time I accidently pumped it a full 60 watts from my amp briefly, the 10ohm resistors across the speaker terminals absorbed some of the power as well but the 6 was undamaged. So be careful with so much watts at your finger tips.

I've sunk three different 100w power amps with the HE6.  No resistor or adapter.  Full 100w.  That was my first day with the HE6.
Fang has said direct 50w is safe but when I asked him about my 70w receiver, he said the HE6 could handle that without the adapter.
