Thanks for the detailed answer!
So it turns out that the NOS will remain as it is, and the Darwin Ultra filter is designed for OS and has the advantages of the NOS mode, while not having the disadvantages of this mode, am I correct?
And as you wrote above, again, if I understand correctly, there is no point in including Darwin Ultra in the FC, as it is already based on the current FC position, am I correct?
Well, the firmware to be given out here will include Darwin Ultra. It was inspired by some properties of the existing filter settings combined with the hardware characteristics of the FC6 itself, but not exactly the same.

I am very grateful to you for these clarifications.
It was your participation and responses in various discussions that was one of the factors in favor of buying the R6pro2.

Oh there are another FC6 thread 😅

anyway, just wanted to give an impression on the FC6 before I make my full review of it.

I have both FC6 and RU7.
I found the FC6 with NOS mode to be more mid centric and intimate compared to the RU7, I do found bass of the RU7 to be more "grand" with extra slam compared to the FC6.

and with NOS mode I found the FC6 to be slightly warm compared to the RU7 with all to dsd256 (sound wise)

also power consumption on the FC6 is noticeably more efficient compared to the RU7.
Plugged to my Xiaomi 13T,
FC6 depletes 8-10%/hour
RU7 depletes 12-15%/hour

I also found the FC6 temperature to be more manageable compared to the piping hot RU7.

Now I'm still playing with OS mode and trying all of the available filters.

myself personally like the FC6 timbre more than the RU7, well sound is very subjective afterall

As promised, here's a preview firmware with the Darwin Ultra V2 filters for the FC6.
Changelog vs v1.06
1. Optimized frequency response at 44.1kHz for all filters. (Darwin Ultra filter response is as designed)
2. Darwin ultra is temporarily named "Minimum Phase" but is actually mixed phase ("optimal phase").
3. Other filters are as labelled (fast, slow, normal vs late rolloff) but, not listed is the phase behaviour. V1.06 these were linear phase, now they are minimum phase
4. Final production firmware will feature volume balancing between all OS filters. (Currently Fast Late > Fast Normal > Slow Late > Slow Normal > Darwin Ultra for loudness (only very slightly)

How to install
-unzip the downloaded zip file and follow the instructions of "Instructions for update using Flashtool.docx". (No DFU version available for this preview)

edit : uh... I got a warning cannot run the driver or something like that, I'm using Win 11

Thank you! This is the kind of support I want to see from vendors on our forum!

Great job HiBy team and @Joe Bloggs! After 10 hours with Min Phase/HDR On - the WOW effect is still persistent with me. Scene went even wider and also more detailed with not leaving vocals of course behind. No issues with distortion or random hiccups or hiss on various content.

So, I've got the beta firmware installed and it's mostly resolved the hissing and popping issues. Especially with Tidal on Android. I still have some hiss with multiple earphones on a track here or there on Spotify but it's generally mostly at the beginning or end when they're quiet portions. I like the sound of the FC6 enough that that isn't enough to turn me off using it and hopefully when the firmware gets out of beta even that nitpick will be gone. I have, however, run into the rare YouTube video where the hissing and popping is pretty major, so I'm not sure what that is about. I tested one of these videos with other dongles and it's only there on the FC6.

Otherwise, like I said, I'm really enjoying the sound of my little guy.

Try toggling HDR off to see if that's helps. It's set to on by default.

Listening to wp900 on fc6 today, I like the min phase filter with v2 beta firmware. Seems like the sound is slightly smoother, more resolving? Like a bit of edge has been taken off. Static noise is through the roof with hdr on, need to off it. One complaint I have is loud popping sound on usb disconnect. Some dongles do that, some do not. Need to remember to unplug/remove headphones before the usb. I assume it's a hardware limitation for fc6, but can anything be done through firmware to address this?

For the two of you, can I check if it may be a volume related problem? What I mean is the digital volume being fed to the FC6.

1. What sample rate is shown on the FC6 when these static sounds occur?
2. Try lowering the digital volume being fed to the FC6 for the same audio material that causes static. Via volume buttons on the smartphone or computer, or any preamp kind of control in the app, anything that leads to the same volume as heard on the headphones corresponding to a higher volume setting on the FC6 itself (e.g. now you may be listening at volume 10 on the FC6, I want you to try anything and everything until you turn to say volume 15 on the FC6 to hear the same audio material at the same volume through your headphones connected to the FC6.) If / when you have succeeded in this try listening to the problematic segments again and let me know if anything's changed.

I'm not sure I understood correctly but as the volume goes up on the FC6 the static also increases. The same is not true of my s21+ volume. If I turn the volume down on the FC6 and up on my smartphone, the hissing almost goes away.

Hi, can we expect to see a discount on the FC6 on 11/11 or Black Friday? Thanks

Ok, you understood me correctly, but the problem is not the one I was thinking of so the behaviour is opposite of what I theorized.

In your case it is best to turn the smartphone volume to max and the FC6 volume to as low as possible for the same final volume. This is simply because the smartphone is outputting a digitally reduced version of the signal for anything less than maximum volume and quantization noise of this volume reduction is being amplified by the FC6.

I had assumed that everyone was doing this by default and was wondering if this may be causing clipping in the intermediate processing stages of the FC6 which causes the sounds you're hearing. That's not the case in your case.
