Just checked the driver on the other side and noticed that only the word makro imprinted on the driver. It looks like these words are not imprinted at any fixed location on the drivers.

hmmm.. i am thinking of getting a pair recently. This's giving me cold shoulders. Actually, how do we know if a pair without any stamps whatsoever has got the correct drivers? I mean, not all of us have heard the 'real' HD650...

I really hope those who's got the HD580-stamped-drivers have their situation resolved soon. Cheers!

Well mine are going back soon unless we get a reply from a Sennheiser representative here or by email and I don't think I'll bother with Senns again after that.

For all I know the new revision could sound better/end up sounding better than the predecessor if it indeed is legit. As far as I know mine shipped through the official importer.

I just want to know what's up since I've seen no threads or talk about Sennheiser revising the 650.

Does anyone have a 2007 HD650 that shares the more familiar driver design and doesn't have HD580 stamp?

I really love them otherwise, best comfort over any other headphone for me, perfect clamp. Good looks, not too bulky.
Also already beginning to see what I've been missing soundwise and getting used to the sound signature.

But HD-580? I mean what the hell?

Have we seen a single picture of any of this? Someone should post pictures of their 650 with 580 drivers for proof.

"Does anyone have a 2007 HD650 that shares the more familiar driver design and doesn't have HD580 stamp?"

I bought mine about a month and a half ago (Aug 2007). They have numbers on the drivers and "SENNHEISER" is engraved around the centre of the driver, no where does it say HD580.

I do not know whether mine are the "familiar" design. Post pics of both and I can confirm.

I cracked my 650s open and the drivers have 3 lines of text of them that read:

16.03.07
HD 580
Minisys

The headphones were purchased new from HeadRoom within the last month.

I also cracked open my 580s but their drivers have no text on them. They were purchased over 2 years ago however.

No, not in itself. But if it is packed in an HD650's housing and sold as an HD650, this is an extremely serious problem.

I checked my driver's again, they also have "Sennheiser" printed around the perimeter of the driver's dust cap/dome.

Oh no, my 650s have HD 580 on the driver. I bought them from Amazon a few weeks ago.

I upgraded from 580s, they sound totally different.
