At this point, yes. But that is how the vast majority of people, including me, listen to music nowadays. Enough support/requests and maybe FiiO or Beyerdynamic or etc. might include the capability in their amps in the future.

If you have an Android smartphone with an amp, download Jetaudio by Cowon. Then download the AM3D plugin inside of it, turn it on, and only use the "bass knob" to 65 or so. It gives a nice, clean, powerful bass boost that retains the sig and soundstage.

How close do you compare the Havi to the FX850? Do the Spiral dot tips work well on the Havi too? 

The sound stage are very close, almost neck to neck to my ears. Both have good clarity and details levels are great.

Apart from these, they have very different sound sig. The FX850 is warmer and have thicker notes throughout giving a much grander image of the sound stage. The B3 sounds cooler and have a little thinner notes but still creates a full sounding sound stage and equally enjoyable.

I have not tried the spiral tips as yet as I'm burning in the B3 now but should get to it soon.

Hope this helps and please note that this are just my personal perception of the sound I heard and ymmv.
