So I pulled the trigger on these last Sunday. They were shipped from Canada (which I thought was weird. I'm in Cali) so I hope I get them this week.
On another note, I was playing around with my FS1s. I've been using the comply tips almost exclusively for about a year now. I went back to the medium dual flanges and... WOW! It was like a whole new set of phones! The sound was less muddy and much more clear. The bass was more textured and clean and the highs were crisp and less harsh. Also the sound stage opened up noticeably. It was as if the complys were smashing everything together.
The difference was really noticeably on the song Reunion from M83 - Hurry Up, We're Dreaming. With the complys, once the vocals kick in the highs were incredibly harsh and grating; almost compressed sounding. I had to turn the volume waaaay down and even that didn't help. It was so bad that I had to rip my headphones off. It was un-listenable. With the medium dual flanges everything is clean, even at higher volumes. Also, the sub bass was immensely improved on tracks like Skrillex - Summit. My jaw actually dropped.
After I noticed this, I tried everything to make the complys sound better. I put them in backwards, I trimmed off the excess by the sound tube. Nothing really helped. I had no idea tips would matter this much.
At least I know what should work best with the MG7s when I get them.
