Jawed,
Where did you purchase H8 from? Seems at the mo, it's only available at the original Japanese site and on eBay from Japan, whilst not available from European retailers as yet...I second your opinion on h8 based on my brief review of a brand new h8 about a couple of months ago... Seems like there is a substantial difference from h7 hence the earlier release of the latter to promote sales of it

I bought them from:

http://www.hifiheadphones.co.uk/

That's the retail business associated with K&S Distribution. K&S is the UK importer of Final Audio Design.

I wrote about my experience in this thread:

Both H8 and H7 arrived at the same time at K&S, I believe. They've been available to purchase since the official launch date of 12/12/14 (if not earlier).

H7 is available in black. I believe HiFi Headphones does not stock the silver version (maybe later?). They did not seem to be aware of either the black or silver versions being "limited edition".

Neither 7 nor 8 is on their web site. They are available from the Swiss dealer but the only ship within Switzerland

Try calling them? I don't know if they ship internationally.

The 8 is available from my local Danish dealer in Copenhagen but not the 7. Will go and try it at some point. Don't know what their price is

These FAD iem's are so "strange" that I'm not buying without trying first. Only reason I bought the PF VIII untried was that it was a second hand pair from a known seller at an outragiously good price (less than $300)

The PFs and their forebears are really the only "strange" phones in their lineup actually. All of the Heavens and the like actually sound "normal"

I'd say the Piano Fortes are more an acquired taste than strange; they are certainly different sounding than the typical IEMs. I wouldn't advise anyone to buy a PF without trying them first.

If you could have one FAD IEM besides the Lab 1 (and assuming you don't have the Lab 1), which would you choose?

I'd like to pick up my first FAD, but torn between FI BA SS, PF IX, and Heaven VIII. Thinking that Heaven VIII might be the way to go because it seems like it is a better all-rounder.

FI-BA-SS all the way IF you gotta AK240. Not that it won't excel with other DAPs but no DAP is able to even get close to the 240+FI-BA-SS pair. I tried the FI with the AK240, X5, DX50, DX90, Cowon P1, and more.
