I agree with
One thing I would like to add is that if the X7 is the masterpiece of FiiO engineering, the ultimate statement product, that you shouldn't need to in effect have a daughterboard of an external amp...

Nothing wrong with the X5 / E12 stack, but - having the E12 (or - better!) internals (minus battery, as that could be shared) inside the X7 as a one-box solution would definitely win you some new fans...

I agree here - just got my new X5+E12 combination - very nice, but bulky as heck!  I would also like to see a separate treble and bass adjustment (like on the E17) - which is sorely missing on the X5 - that's why I got the E12 (for the bass boost!)

Keep the dual MicroSD cards, OTG, USB DAC, etc.

Cheers,
R.Fox

And.......

If they ever want to start appealing to a legitimate market, they better start knocking the price down.

Apple has a reputation of being "overpriced and based entirely on brand". Guess what? The Fiio X5 is like half of the usability and quadruple the price!

All for an improvement in sound quality? Why don't they just stuff a fiio e17 in it and call it a day? That's all we're really looking for.

All Apple has to do is start buying dedicated amps and dacs, charging $50 more and selling it as a "hi-fi-iphone" it'll appeal to a lot of people, and suddenly every other "audiophile dap" will be forever condemned to the "knock-off" bin.

Whether from a branding or a volume pricing angle (the HiFi version will sell a lot less than the regular version, thus driving up costs of manufacture), if Apple did that, it won't sell for less than our DAPs.

Are you saying the cost of the amp/Dac is +$300

Iphone 5s is $400 with 64gb onboard. That seems extremely reasonable compared to literally every audiophile dap.

Apple sux period :joy:..i don't like them :sunglasses:

Thanks for being irrelevant. The user-interface is one of the reasons the iphone and ipod is extremely successful. Whether you agree or not is all but besides the point.

Quality over quantity my friend and that's it :sunglasses:...just deal with it

I wasn't serious about the buying 2 iphones part, quantity is irrelevant.

Now, I probably sound fairly aggressive right now, but I think it's in part because you're mentioning all these upgrades on the fiio x7. The main point is that you'll have android on it, and that's fantastic! But why not on the x5, or x3 or even the x1 you have "that's not even out" In reality, not everyone (or anyone?) is going to shell out $700 for a mp3 player.

Remember, ipod touch has apps, internet browsing, and ability to make phone calls (with apps & wifi) [And people still say it's massively overpriced]

This is only an mp3 player with higher quality audio components. If you look at the nano or the classic, clearly people's budget is more around $150-200. I'm people, I have a budget as well. Just because I care about high fidelity a bit more than the average person doesn't mean I look like this

Now, in all honestly I'd probably be willing to pay at the most $400 for a high quality DAP. I just don't see why it's not possible.

No, I'm saying that even Apple won't be able to sell nearly as many iPhone5-HiFi's as standard iPhone5s's, and producing a low-volume item costs more than producing a high-volume item. Basic economy of scale. I'm not afraid to say that the audiophile market is tiny compared to the smartphone market in general because it's blindingly obvious...

With non-expandable memory. Bear that in mind.

Where did you get quadruple the price from?
