This looking for problems when it's strictly a matter of chosen trade offs. There is no best way here.
...Do not even reply to this thread, please.
Wow, that's rude. If do you want to make your point, keep your head cool mate.
I'm trying. That person was claiming totally groundless to me in an arrogant manner.
That person coincidentally also has been writing honest and in-depth gear reviews, providing valuable advices and insights to other members in this community. In order to put things in perspective, Fiio has mentioned multiple times in both the X5 and X7 threads to explain their rationale behind their battery choice. I think we can also do the courtesy to read it up beforehand.
why can't they make a detachable battery and sell it as a part on their website??
... Do not make a quick judgement and say something is impossible before you even try. That kind of mindset deters decent DAP development. Do not even reply to this thread, please. I don't know what makes you think you can argue over this but your point of view is totally narrow minded and not understandable...
Because FiiO is neither setup to be a direct sale company nor is they a battery company. You make it sounds like they can just snap their finger and everything will work smoothly. But in reality this operation will involve a change in how the company conducts its business as well as putting in resources that can otherwise used for other things. Designing, OEM purchasing, inventory, logistic, sale and management will all be costing more money, without even consider the risk of selling an accessory that might or might not make any money.
Why do you assume they didn't actually give it a thought before? Must they go out, try and fail before they can confirm how a thing works or not, instead of putting in some key members of the company to explore the possibility and found it to not suit the company's current business? I have pretty much a "direct line" when it comes discussion with FiiO engineers and management, given I am the guy who introduced them to Head-fi and still giving them idea for products' R&D from time to time. Do you think we (me and the FiiO guys) never come across this topic before? And here you are, the one on the outside who knows nothing about how these things works and how they are running their business, insisting that you are justifiable enough to ask others not to reply to you because they don't share your vision? Who is the "totally narrow minded and not understandable" here?
Like James of Fiio said about other questions...they CAN'T do some things because they aren't Samsung, Apple or something, maybe the detachable batteries are a good idea but it's not something they can do, due to costs and things like that.
why do your cellphones and laptops come with detachable batteries?
why do your cellphones and laptops come with detachable batteries?
Because that is feature that they can provide. For Fiio it's not so easy and not a headline feature. Fiio is more focused on sound quality than convenient features. To include as powerful an amp as they can they are choosing a battery configuration that will meet their target and last long enough to satisfy customers. You'd be surprised how much more juice you can get when you can use the entire space devoted to battery chemistry and not battery casings and connectors (both on the battery and the device it's powering). Chances are that if they used a replaceable battery it would have to be purchased form an existing configuration and one that is relatively small (like a cellphone battery). If that happened there would be many more customers complaining that their DAP only lasted 4 hours instead of over 10 hours. Give and take. Lose some win some. Choices.
Why doesn't Apple provide replaceable batteries? They have the money to do so but they don't. Because it doesn't fit their design aesthetic and product target and business plan.
If you don't like it that's just fine. We've heard your opinion.
Because the user itself can change it if has a problem with it, and maybe you can have a second battery if you want, and as a brand, you can't deal with millions of people that want their batteries changed I guess. But since the X7 is supposed to be a TOTL product, it's not like Fiio is going to deal with that. Dunno.
