  Hi James,

Sorry to not read the previous post but, I have 2 very important questions.
1. When is X7 expected to be released?
2. What kind of 3rd party apps are compatible? Is spotify coompatible
Thanks for taking the time and effort to reply
Cheers

1, maybe in June,2015.

2, it depended on what Apps customer need for Music

About the APPs, all music APPs are welcome, but some Game apps and others will not be allowed to install in X7 to make sure the best experience .

I am disappointed by the fact that FiiO X7 will probably get only one microSD slot. Is this really a final decision or two microSD slots are still possible to be in X7?
My FiiO X5 currently has 256GB available (with two 128GB cards) and I am sooo happy with it. It looks too bad if the new dream player from FiiO will get only 160 GB (128GB card and 32GB of internal memory). I'm sorry, but it doesn't look as a dream player for me...
James have mentioned that 256GB microSD cards will be available in a relative short time and then X7 will have 288 GB. But at that time I could have 512GB in my X5 with two microSD slots and e.g. Calyx M will get something around 768 GB (with 512GB in SD and 256GB in microSD slot).
Audiophile sound quality is of course the most important for my dream player, but storage space and battery life are still very important decision points (originally planned 2 microSD slots and 10 hours of battery life are just enough for me). I don't care about other bells and whistles as WiFi or BT. I have no problem living without touchscreen or user-replacable battery, but my dream player needs to have enough storage space.
Having two microSD slots was very important decision point to pick my FiiO X5 over iBasso DX90 (as their SQ is relative similar).
I also own my older FiiO X3 and one microSD slot (with 128 card) is a big limitation for using high-res files (especially when you start using 24/192 or DSD albums). BTW, 32 GB of internal memory will be as ridiculous in two years as 8GB of internal memory on X3 nowadays.

1, we may release X7 pro which may includes higher memory, how about 128G.

2, There should have 256g mSD card in 2015.

3, Already explain the reason why we choose one mSD card, it is for longer battery life.

1. YES!!

2. Perhaps.

3. Would turning off WiFi not be an option to maintain battery life? It's common knowledge for consumers that having WiFi on all the time drains the battery quicker. That way the consumer can CHOOSE to drain the battery faster, or not, AND have more storage.

I wondering that will X7 can connect to the phone on bluetooth .

I have a problem that when music is on, I can't notice that the phone ring.(not sms, mms, or social app. just the call.)

So , could it possible to stop playing when the phone ring.

I too have this problem with DAPs, but I solve it by simply putting my phone on vibrate.

If the DAP pauses play when the headphone jack is removed that would be adequate for me.

Re' the 'dropping sd slot in favour of wi-fi' issue; I personally would prefer the extra slot, but since someone here informed me that Spotify playlists can only be downloaded via Wi-Fi, I've conceded my position, as Spotify mobile is very important to me, and maybe Tidal too in future.
It is surprising to me though that these playlists cannot be downloaded via USB.

I am very curious about what audiophiles in China say about FiiO X7, surely there must be some threads in local Chinese forums, dedicated to X7, similar to this one in English?

Earlier in this thread I came across claims like 'X7 is for Chinese market', so logically the major target audience must generate equally major interest in this new product, resulting in similar discussions on its design, the desired specifications, strong and weak points etc.

Apparently, my Chinese is not any good, as in my searches 便携式数码播放器FiiO X7发烧友 (portable digital player FiiO X7 for audiophiles) I mostly get messages like 对不起,没有找到匹配结果 (sorry, no matches were found), but I keep trying.

(also, the word 发烧友 or 'audiophile' in Chinese means or translates back as 'enthusiast' - not that I object, but still one can be 'enthusiast' of anything, and 'audiophile' can only be enthusiast of those various things related to audio, like players, amplifiers, headphones etc)

the bluetooth is design for bluetooth speaker, bluetooth headphones and such etc, I have not idea why people use their smartphone as source, and them X7 as bluetooth receiver.

I just want to use X7 as a DAP as you said. But just the time when the phonr ring, I want X7 to notice me that someone is calling me.
And I can't feel vibration of my phone.

My ak100 ii has a nice touch when paired with my phone, if I'm busy listening to music and my phone rings then the ak will stop playing music and will notify me of the incoming call, and another thing on storage, wifi can connect from your dap to your phone and stream all music storage you have on your phone, but please make the x7 dlna/upnp compatible James.also wireless HDD and sdd are getting smaller and cheaper there's no need for humongous internal storage.

Not to be personal but not everything you want is what everyone wants. BT or wifi is becoming quite popular in flagship daps and is quite useful to some. In regards to sd cards, you can always carry another one and swap it...

Yes, one can always erase some old music in DAP in order to upload some new music... yes, one can always carry some more microSD cards... but, at some point some DAP users, who are forced to go through those related repetitive processes regularly (and not necessarily a small and insignificant part, in my estimation), may just get fed up, and look for ways to avoid those repetitive storage space management tasks.

Some people claim that it is not possible, or not feasible, to try to put everything into one single DAP/DAC/AMP unit.

However, if I can take some good sounding smartphone, USB OTG cable and, say, 256GB USB Flash or USB-to-SATA SSD, put it all together and it works beautifully, gives me most of what I need from a DAP (also including every bit of convergence I can dream of) - then why it is so difficult for DAP manufacturers to put pretty much the same electronics into one single case? (not necessarily including 256GB memory, even though I can't see why not, but definitely including some reasonable expansion options for memory).

It just escapes me, why smartphone manufacturers can routinely overcome whatever technical difficulties they face, so they routinely build and sell some pretty wonderful convergence devices (including some with reasonably good SQ), and many DAP manufacturers find pretty much the same thing impossible.

Sorry, which photo are you referring to?

Do you mean this material?:

Yep... I guess someone tries to let the disgusting cheapo-looking like brushed aluminium to be the finish.

It is really looking so bad im put off from buying it :[

Seriously, its just cheap crappy finish, making happy 3-years old...

If it cannot be professional rough magnesium finish, then the aluminium, at least properly sanded, that makes it looking awesome.

Black magnesium build is best of all available options... worth every price upgrade penny...

Just, make the PRO version of X7 with magnesium case (so it looks better than dx100!).

Times when shiny brushed aluminium were impressing people are really far far behind nowadays.

Btw, aluminium is quite.. weak and soft!

There are many ways to design and use aluminum and frankly, it can hold up quite well. Magnesium can be difficult to work with and often there is a high rejection rate form the molding.
