@ Mayorblurps, Enjoying your music is what it is all about..By the way I finally got my DX90 to roughly 400 hours..The sound is impeccable in every way possible to my ears...I have been enjoying my DX90 every single day since I got it..

I know many guys are questioning if the 400 hours of play time is necessary on the DX90.. I will say yes it is. Because I now feel like I got an upgraded version of the DX90..

I received my DX90 yesterday and ordered it from ProStudio Sound & Music via Amazon.com. I wanted a U.S. seller as I'm still in the evaluation stage (but I really like it with one day use). So, in the event I decide to return it within their 30 day return policy, my domestic shipping charge won't be outrageous.  I paid $439 and received it in **two** days.

$439 sounds like a good deal!

I am ok with ordering from other countries... as long as it is cheap.
I heard the price of DX90 in China is quite a bit lower.

Can anyone of you do a quick playback test of this DXD 352.8 kHz track - Vivaldi: Recitative and Aria from Cantata RV 679, "Che giova il sospirar, povero core" Tone Wik & Barokkanerne (period instruments) from 2L? There is a very loud constant hissing background sound during playback on the DX90 I tried which is not heard on my PC, AK120 or on the AK240. I am not sure what is the issue with DX90 or if it is a bug.

I have loud constant hissing background too.

Anyway thanks for the song, nice vocals!

The Sony has a better UI, the DX90 slightly better sound. ZX1 is brighter, DX90 slightly fuller sound and better mids.
Better amp in the DX90.

Difference really isn't all that big, I find myself going for the zx1 most of the time, love the UI.

All dap makers can take a lesson from Sony when it comes to a perfectly functional and user friendly interface.

Oh, and the battery is better (actually much better) on the ZX1.

For me I would probably have it the other way round. I prefer the SQ of the ZX1 but only just, it's really too close to call imho. I find the ZX1 to have an ever so light edge in the mids and sounds stage. Bass is for me slightly more refined on the ZX1 but I'm nit picking really. UI is better on the ZX1.
Using the mod that was posted on the ZX1 thread seems to add morse power and take away the EU volume cap and makes it easier for the ZX1 to drive my Ety 4rs.

I'd struggle to recommend one over the other, I'm keeping both as I think they are both excellent Daps. The one big advantage of the DX90 is price, almost half the price of the ZX1(I paid less due to 20% discount).

Interesting how ears differ. I have the AK100 and don't even consider it in the same ballpark as the DX90 and my AK100 is modified.

I also find if a huge plus that the battery of the DX90 is easily replaced. The coax out and true LO of the DX90 is a pleasure.

My DX90, now that that it's had some burn in, sounds better than the AK120 ever did. What really amazes me is the soundstage depth and imaging capabilities. With the DX90 I'm hearing things as though they're coming from behind me. I didn't think that was possible with IEMs. The level of detail too is astonishing.

Tony1110, on which handsets such opportunities?
I rely on it that my W4R, DX90 rip better after annealing, as the AK100.

I have to say, I prefer my ZX1 sound over DX90. ZX1 has bigger soundstage and more air (dx90 you can hear the walls of the soundstage, zx1 just sounds fully open), zx1 has faster sound with more accurate treble and bass (zx1 bass is tight, dx90 is fuller). zx1 treble is better extended, but can be too forward for some, dx90 treble just doesnt sound right to me. Also I find the layering and imaging of the DX90 a bit too good, meaning exaggerated beyond the recording making it tiresome. But the DX90 does do vocals and mids better than the zx1 and the internal amp has a lot more power than the zx1.

I didn't really listen after 10 hours and after 400 hours the sound was much more refined and better overall.

Ive burned it in for 75 hours so far and still going, but I can tell the sounds not going change much, just become more refined, the first 25 hours burn in made a big difference, after that its been pretty much the same. I will keep burning till 400 hours though, lol...

I actually didn't like some of the middle phases that much, Highs and space between he notes don't come around for a while. It's also not a linear progression.
