Don't buy any FiiO product from SainStore on Amazon and how to distinguish a genuine FiiO E6 from a fake one
Aug 11, 2012 at 11:17 AM Post #211 of 283
Thank you for your help anyway. I am at least 90% certain it is a fake, so I am going to keep it and purchase an authentic E6 from Headphone Bar and then do A/B tests on them to compare the similarities and differences. In the meantime, anyone who is looking for an E6 do not buy from BestOfferBuy. You will most likely get a fake product.

I would say so. Crack it open and send a picture of the interior.
(I've been following this thread since it started. Never bothered to post.)

I am quite surprised at the number of people getting fakes. It makes me worried about the E6 I have in shipping right now. Though, I am quite sure I got it from Micca store on amazon.

Amazon already help us removed sain store from Amazon.com. also they asked us how to identify the fake products, seems it is because you guys complain it to Amazon.com. that will be the best way to

let Amazon do something to clean the fake products.

Thanks so much for this info.  I was debating whether to buy the Fiio E6 from Amazon a couple of days before joining Head-Fi, and now I'm glad I waited.  I've been a member for all of two days, and already you all have saved me from possibly buying a counterfeit!  Just placed my order with Micca Distributors through Amazon.

Great, I didn't come across this thread until too late.  My Fiio E6 is shipped from amazon today and I should be receiving by Wednesday or Thursday.  I've seen a lot of sellers mentioned except for the seller I bought mine from "Butterfly Photo."  Nobody including Fiio has blacklisted them yet.  Does anybody know if this is a reputable seller or if they have received fakes from them?  I'm leaning towards fake just because of how good the deal was.  For $29.95 I'm getting a Fiio e6 amp and the L9 LOD.  I just thought it was a great deal, but now I'm really hesitant and am thinking there is no way it isn't fake.  The posting is here: http://www.amazon.com/Portable-Headphone-Amplifier-Butterfly-MicroFiber/dp/B007FFOL4E/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1344912656&sr=8-5&keywords=fiio+e6  One thing that kind of eases me is that is bought and shipped from them and not fulfilled by Amazon if Amazon is mixing them all up.  Another thing that is easing me is that they have an actual Brick and Mortar store I believe in New Jersey.  I'm assuming this is the same http://www.butterflyphoto.com/ .  So can anybody thats bought from them, or can Fiio themselves tell me one way or the other.  Thanks.

I just got an E7 from Amazon, fulfilled by EverythingDeals.  Wondering if it's real or not.  I didn't notice the
"don't buy from" thread until after it arrived.

The battery had no writing on it, and there was a serial number on the side of the box.

So I wrote to Butterfly Photo asking them about my purchase and expressing my concerns, and obviously they aren't gonna say, "you caught us! we sell knock offs!!)  But they did say they are an authorized dealer and they only sell legit products.  Problem is Fiio hasn't said in this thread or on their website that they are an authorized dealer as there are only a few in the U.S. as most people know.  So can Fiio comment on this or can anybody verify legit amps bought from butterflyphoto on amazon marketplace.  Thanks a lot.  Here is the exact email they sent:

Dear Valued Customer,

Thank you for your purchase. We understand your concern. Butterflyphoto is an authorized dealer and you are receiving an official item and not a knock off.

Thank you

They may be thinking of authorized dealer for other things or something. But FiiO updates their site frequently and has upcomming lists of dealers all spelled out.

yes, thats what concerns me, because I have checked Fiio's site and they aren't an authorized dealer as of their latest update but they claim they are.  I should be receiving it tomorrow or friday at the latest so I can look and compare to the posts online about fake ones, but I'm still not confident enough in my abilities to discern the difference.  So always in the back of my head I'm going to think its fake and I got screwed.  I know to look for serial number and a few other things, but as far as the loop goes, it says the fake ones are thicker.  I've never seen a fake or legit e6 so I would have no idea if it was thick or thinner than normal.

Their website had a thread on this

Use these and this thread and photo's to help you :) But don't just pop it open first, look for missing serial first.

There are very big problem if you buy on Amazon, you must know that lots of products are sold in FBA, which means the seller send the goods to the warehouse of Amazon.

and the order will be shipped by Amazon. when there are more than one seller selling the same products, for example, seller A, seller B,  A,B both selling products by FBA,

so if you buy from A, you may receive the goods which B send to Amazon. but if the goods sent to Amazon came with a sticker which includes the PO no from Amazon. that

will have not any occasion to send the wrong products.

So, for any seller who listed in our authorized list, must be

1, Supplied by our official distributor or FiiO

2, Send the goods to Amazon with their own label.

Many thanks for the notification, I'm glad that I found this forum by googling around before I purchase my order in Amazon.

so instead I'll buy it from: http://www.amazon.com/FiiO-Headphone-Amplifier-Micca-Cable/dp/B005JT8OT6/ref=cm_cr_pr_sims_t

Good choice, that's where I ordered my E6 and E11 from.

Ok, I just got my E6 in the mail from ButterflyPhoto which was a Amazon Marketplace item.  So it was shipped from them not from Amazon and there are some stuff I noticed that make me believe its legit, and some stuff thats worrying me.  The box does have a serial number and the book seems to be a good book.  But on the other hand with the product itself, the loop seems bigger to me comparing to the pictures, the ridge on the side seems thin instead of thick, and the usb seems a little sunken, not quite as sunken as in the fake pics but not quite as flush as the legit pic.  I don't really want to possibly ruin it by taking it apart, so maybe someone can help and tell me one way or the other with these pics.  Hopefully at this point im just being paranoid.  Also are there any fiio L9 cables counterfeited?  Can fiio veryify the s/n to make sure its legit and not fake since its not that hard to fake that? I'll try to include a few pics trying to show everything as best I can.
