J&R phone order...$650 USD shipped.  Almost got them for $581 but I can't complain since most places the best you can find is $749 even after haggling J&R.

Where did you end up getting them from?

I look forward to all the impressions of the new listeners of these babies. Still in love with mine and starting to find it real hard to listen to my other gear anymore.

Regarding the MarkL mod, I used to own the D2000 and performed some extensive operations on them. After all that, I could safely say that the process seems to tighten the sound but at the cost of added harshness. I was never truly happy with the D2000 as the sibilance was downright annoying so when the Grado HF2 was announced in summer 2009, I took the leap and never turned back.

I bought these D7000s a couple days ago but they do not have nearly as much bass as I thought they would.
I'm not a basshead so it doesn't affect me but it's still interesting why others feel more bass...

I tried the DT990s but didn't like the sibilance, yet, they had more bass than the Denons even though, people here say that they don't.

Overall great headphones though, so crisp and clear quality!!

Weird. The D7000 definitely has more bass than the DT990... O_O

Maybe you want more boominess, which may make the D5000 more ideal for you.

You're not a basshead and yet still think that D7000 seem lacking bass? Hmmm.... I owned Audio Technicas that had bass that would tickle your ear drum, DT770, HD650 and I can say D7000's bass is the best I've heard among all of those. Maybe your ears need to get used to it for a while

^That could very well be it.

Don't be mislead, this is the best quality bass I have ever heard.

However, I'm feeling as if my DT990s had more "impact." Maybe it is just another false memory, who knows...

You may have been hearing mid-bass and it may have been coloring the midrange, I have experienced that with other headphones. While nice for a while I appreciate the clarity of the D7000 more. Out of current IEM's my DDR do the mid-bass thing the most and I notice the difference right away.

Idk what mid-bass is... I'm listening to dubstep right now but I'm not "feeling" the bass hit.

Mid-bass would add impact to the kicks rather than to the sub bass.  You can try dampening your cups which will increase the sub bass tightness and impact. It might increase the mid bass but I remember it doing more to the sub bass. Either that or you could just eq the 200-500hz frequencies to gain that impact (please use subtractive EQ if you do).

I really like bass heavy genres like dubstep and dnb too and feel that the D7000's are one of the best headphones out there for listening to that kind of music.

I dunno, I was a basshead first and foremost, owning some pretty bassy headphone (DT770 Pros, XB700, and some others), and I feel the D7000's bass is still amazing and definitely of higher quality. Perhaps you seriously do need just more oomph. Probably from the D2000 or D5000, like I mentioned before.

um.... you should definitely be "feeling" the bass of the D7000.

I listen to dub often with them and with some tracks I fear of getting a concussion.

Check "Jenova Project" by Datsik... if you don't have mad rumbling something is wrong.
