I can't play 24bit/192khz flac files from AK100 with hugo, it flashes like an 80's disco. Is the stock optical cable the problem or what is the deal? Btw, sorry for the noob question, it's my second post

The Hugo's stock optical cable isn't the problem - works well with AK100ii
Does the AK100 output 24bit/192Khz over optical?

Frequency-light in Hugo will go blue, but it's unstable. No sound from headphones.

I found nothing that proves it would't output 24bit/192Khz over optical, and i found only the silver dragon cable which says bandwidth up to 24bit/192Khz

Maybe your cable is damaged or dirty. Try cleaning the ends.

I get a blue light and immaculate sound from the Computer via optical cable (I believe it's the one that came with the Hugo). So I think it's either a dirty cable (or receiver?) or some issues on the AK100's optical out.

jamato is 'the man' for optical, he'll advise on what's best for sure (btw jamato some advice on a good optical-cable for TV>Soundbase would be appreciated in this household).

when plugging the stock optical cable, did you hear any 'click' locking sound?
it should be all the way in..
doing so, it will play up to 24/192 including the old version of AK's...

I can tell you using higher price optical canle makes good of a difference over stock on the Hugo. (not saying this because I'm selling my cable - should pick one up for yourself. AQ or Kimber made good synergy.

Ultrasone made the worst sounding overpriced stuff.. they sell leather, metal , a good design and a BAD sound imho...
