Here's the Audeze earpad mod guide:

  1. Take out plastic ring from Audeze earpads
  2. Use adhesive that works on plastic on the logo side of the peelable tape ring
  3. Stick tape ring onto the smooth plastic side of the plastic ring and wait for adhesive to cure
  4. Peel away the cover on the ring tape and align it to the inside the Beyerdynamic earcups
  5. Then place the Audeze earpads over the Beyerdynamic earcups / Plastic ring

Here's the adhesive that was used (although you could use a different one if you choose):
US -         http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001PMGAGK
Germany - http://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B001PMGAGK

The peelable tape ring comes with the Audeze earpads.

I actually tried the T1 driver mod on one of my COP headsets. The results went surprisingly well. While the baseports were set to position 4 and using these earpads: http://www.beyerdynamic.de/shop/hah/spareparts/edt-800-ls.html or http://www.beyerdynamic.de/shop/hah/spareparts/edt-800-lb.html I still managed to get an adequate amount of base out of the T1 drivers which are designed for a semi-open headphones. I had to make sure that the headphone earpad seal around my ears weren't being broken, so I couldn't wear glasses or have my hair being in between my ears and the earpads (otherwise seal would be broken and I'd lose a lot of the base).

I might do some more mods later to the baseports to make the holes larger if I decide that the drivers need more base. Might also do another mod that will include a grounded wire for the T1 drivers.

So, it won´t work while using glasses?
Or will the base still sound good, if you make the holes larger (or maybe use other earpads?)?

Actually I will have to wait until I can try it myself (the T1 drivers are just to expensive for me right now...)
That´s the same in German education system: You don´t have much money while studying.

But in general you´re right, life´s pretty good here.

Well as long as your glasses aren't under your earpads then it won't break the seal, or if the frame of your glasses are very thin then you should be fine. It's kind of like how this guy explains it in this video at 6:20:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4VQyRNcniM4&t=6m20s

The base for the custom T1 COP headset was still fine without drilling to make the baseports larger.

The Beyerdynamic EDT 800 LS and LB earpads still are the best for the T1 COP

College here isn't free like it is in Germany though.

I recently hooked up a base speaker to my chair. I use it to feel the base against my body while I have my headphones on to get a 2.1 kind of feel. My T1 COP has some pretty great noise isolation so not too much of the outside base gets in, but what does up making it through makes up for the lack of base that my headphones already have especially if when the baseports are set to any thing less than 4. I'm pretty happy with my current setup now.

once again, nice work!

So you say they are even a bit better than the original T1s?
And that for a cheaper price ...
Guess, now I really have to try it myself.

Hopefully I will get the drivers of the 2nd generation T1, would love to hear them.

They mostly sound the same actually, I'd say that if you dampened a regular Gen.1 T1 that it would pretty much sound like my pair except for the differences in noise isolation and bleed, and soundstage illusion. They pretty much cost the same at this moment as well accept this one comes with a really cool aluminum case: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0031RD3YY (http://www.amazon.de/dp/B0031RD3YY). Beyerdynamic still isn't selling the parts for the Gen.2 drivers on the German site quite yet, though. I am assuming since they had to use most of their parts stock for the new pairs of headphones that they probably won't have any to sell individually for another 3 or 2 weeks.

The parts will be here once they are available: http://www.beyerdynamic.de/shop/hah/spareparts.html?kopfhoerermodell=868

For now I'd say that if you could find headphone conventions or meetups in your area, then go to some of them and ask for someone to bring a T1 so you can hear how it sounds. I wish I lived in Germany, then I'd just be able to show you myself. Maybe I can go to some of the headphone conventions in Europe sometime if I can manage to get into the headphone business. Making headphones for a living is my dream.

I already listened to the T1 and they suited my preferences very well. Now I hope to be able to compare them to the 2nd generation soon to make sure which I prefer before buying (even if its just little difference, I want to decide for myself and not to other people's reviews ).
Testing them should be possible, because I live close to the biggest shop for music equipment in Europe. (Guess I am kinda lucky about the place I live

But actually I would really like to listen to your Custom T1s.

Btw, I think you would do a very good job in headphone business.

I agree, it's always best to try out headphones for yourself before you decide if you want to buy them or not (unless if you have beats by Dre, then literally anything would be better). Most audio enthusiasts (head-fiers) do headphone (head-fi) meetups and go to headphone conventions because of this.

See? That's why Germany is so awesome! I'm beyond jealous now XD I still haven't tried the Gen.2s myself, so let me know how they sound when you try them.

Of course! If I am ever in Germany, then I'll let you know so you can give them a listen. :)

Thanks! As long as I keep having great ideas, then I'll never give up on my dream.

They already got them on their website so they probably will get them for tryout, too.
Then I definitely will give them a listen and share my impressions with you.
(Maybe even with a direct comparison if they still got the 1st generation

)

@ulfarn Okay, so Beyerldynamic finally has the T1 Gen 2 drivers for sale here: http://www.beyerdynamic.de/shop/hah/spareparts/system-set.html
The picture that they use is the Gen 1, but it's really the Gen 2

Hello, just got my White COPs + and wanted to put in my 2 cents.

Coming from the DT 990 Pros, they sound kind of muddy and if I could get a refund, I would consider it, just to upgrade those 990s.

But, I have decided to stick with them because:

1. Great sound isolation - airplane, house work, anything, these block out a great amount of sound and sound better than any Bose headphones.

2. They look amazing, they might get a bit dirty easily since white, but they are gorgeous.

3. Easy to drive, short cable that comes with a mic - portability.

4. They don't sound GREAT, coming from the DT 990s, but they are pretty good for the price range considering its other competitors.

Woah, just saw the last page of this thread, and, you modded your COPs to have T1 drivers?!

How complex/difficult is it to do this??
