IMO the UE900 sounded veiled and the W4 is boring
But then again the SE535 isnt any better, its slow and a bit fake. what about the Fitear F111?
I forgot to mention that I was pleasantly surprised last Saturday by (of all things!) an oil change. I decided at the last minute that I really needed to get my oil changed, so I drove to a local Texaco Express Lube. They weren't very busy and I drove directly into the last open bay. A squad of technicians descended on the car like Ghengis Khan's Mongolian horde. There were 3 guys in the pit below the car and 2 guys on top. They had the oil & filter changed (with a Napa oil filter), checked all the fluids, changed my air filter, lubed a couple of spots under the car, put air in the tires, washed my windows and gave me a buyer's card for a free oil change after 15 visits - all in under 15 minutes. I shook the owner's hand and thanked him for a great show! Anyone who thinks it is impossible to run a business that gives great service should talk to that guy!
Yeah, and that is REMARKABLY clean too.

Looking at the Mecum page...lots of nice big American cars. Also, is it me, or are there tons of repeats from the last one (like the Superbird didn't sell, and they've since ADDED a few more)?
Anyways, I liked these:

http://www.mecum.com/auctions/lot_detail.cfm?LOT_ID=HA0413-149123&entryRow=58&lottype=car&startRow=49 (who is Kathtreen Grayson? And why should I care?)
http://www.mecum.com/auctions/lot_detail.cfm?LOT_ID=HA0413-149078&entryRow=29&lottype=car&startRow=17 (apparently she owned two, and this one looks like hell, at least on the inside)
There was also entirely too much "lowrider" trash, but the crown of lulz goes to this:
http://www.mecum.com/auctions/lot_detail.cfm?LOT_ID=HA0413-149960&entryRow=657&lottype=car&startRow=657 (if it doesn't cost you anything, I'd be curious to know what they intend to start the bidding on this "art" for...:rolleyes
And since you mentioned event cars:
http://www.mecum.com/auctions/lot_detail.cfm?LOT_ID=HA0413-149850&entryRow=580&lottype=car&startRow=577 ("what does it do?")
http://www.mecum.com/auctions/lot_detail.cfm?LOT_ID=HA0413-149435&entryRow=216&lottype=car&startRow=209 (I'd love to know how one of the most mass-produced Rolls Royce vehicles ever is "one of a kind" though...)
That Jag is swanky btw.

My local Ford dealer runs like this; if the car is a Lincoln it gets a free detailing during the event as well.

I should be, it underwent a full frame-off, nut and bolt resto last year. Which, unfortunately, hurts its value quite a bit (since these aren't rare, by any stretch of the imagination), but if it's cheap enough I'll get it for the cool factor.

I ended up ordering the W4Rs ($429), since I couldn't get the one I wanted, as none of the import sites offered them.
That's a good thing! I've already got a recommendation for enjoyment purposes, and that would be the Flat4. What I'm actually looking for now are universals that are dead-ass neutral to have around as a reference. And if that means boring (which is probably does), then it's on my list. So far, I've got it narrowed down to the ER-4PT, W4, and a UE900.
For Dead Ass Neutral IMO the W4 is better then the UE900.
Anyways Im about to go insane and get an HD600 someone stop me. The lack of sleep is making this worse
Yeah - I equate the tendency to call Westone's "boring" and "meh" to them being neutral sounding. Nothing stands out - so we call them boring.

Shame places like this stand out though - if you get my meaning.
Also, I couldn't help but imagine the various Texaco scenes from BTTF when you mentioned Texaco...
Hey, there was NOTHING wrong with the 80s.
