AKG K702 65th Anniversary Edition

I have the Q701's currently, and I am thinking of selling them for these strictly based on the headband as I can not use my Q701's without having one of these

cut in half between it and my head so I do not get bumps. I just picked up the K550's as well for $249.99 not the store I bought them at but the store I price matched them from (Canada) has the AKG K702 Anniversary Edition for $748

Not willing to pay that much though that would be insane maybe ~$350 max, I mean I paid the Q701's $240.

I hear a lot about the bumps, but they don't bug me at all. If you like the sound (the Q's are very capable especially with some bass boost), I wonder a couple whacks with a meat tenderizer will soften them up?

Please don't scare me like that.

I found the K701 headband rather comfortable too. Better than a lot of other headphones at least.

There's an AKG K800?

And last I read, this was a few years ago mind you, the K1000 cannot re-enter production because the die/molds for producing certain parts are either lost or damaged beyond repair, so it's beyond just re-tooling an assembly line to put that back into production. I don't see it as something they'd be willing to invest in.
Regarding the anniversary K702 in general: how much are these going to cost in 'merica? For some reason I'm seeing $1000 or thereabouts, which is just...sickening. I think the K701 were good, but come on, it's been six years, do something new!

D'oh!

Brain fart.

Thanks for the link.

I see you own Q701 and K701, is it because their differences are present enough to keep them both?

After a burning in period, the differences between Q701, K702 (this I had for a test period too), K701 are very small and (only) with some special music samples hearable.

Q701, K702 use special selected drivers (capsules).

In the year 2010 I had the chance to visit the AKG production in Vienna. It was very interesting to see how an electrostatic microphone or a headphone arises.

For about a time of three month, I had the K1000 as guest (loaned), unfortunately I must give them back.

Would you be so kind to tell us about the special music a little more please. What kind and what are the differences?

You could read about my impressions and my heared music here

I made my last intensive compairing some month ago. It's very hard to catch the differences between both.

Now I get a lot of new music and I think I should made this compairing again.

Again, don't understand why people are tripping over the price. MSRP and street prices are bound to be VERY different. The new K702 isn't in stock at the major retailers or anything yet. They will go down in price, to realistic levels. Just wait.

The biggest difference for me between the K 702 and Q 701 is not having some guy named "QUINCY" scrawl his name all over my beautiful AKG headphones..

Tell AKg to make a Laura Branigan signature model. I will buy that.
