agree that it can be a challenge to describe our subjective listening experiences but this forum is testament to the fact that lots of folks are willing to try. fwiw, your working definition of hi fi is different to mine, which partly explains why i found your comparison puzzling, but thanks for making the effort to explain nothing anyways.

Ck100pro to me is much better value and there are things it does that nothing in my possession can do.

K3003 has a more of a hifi sounding approach where as Ck100pro has a very unique approach that focuses on clarify, speed and deep bass without sounding too artifical.

so it is a highly detailed V-shaped phone ?

that's the feeling I get , details details details

And... I'm back in the club!

Just picked up number 26,216 brand new from my usual dealer.

Plugged her into the AK100ii and OMG... I missed this. K3003 is a beast!

ROFL

You guys know my love for the K3003. I rated them far above the SE846/IE800 when many other people rate the three at competitive levels.

As for the Layla, yeah she's all that and more, stunning really, but there some things the K3003 does for me the Layla doesn't. Plus it gets boring just owning one IEM, no matter how good it may be. Variety is the spice of life and I like me some K3003.

I was surprised by how high my serial number was... it's in the 26k now. The build and sound seem to be better than ever, from memory of course....

sometimes you don't know what you've got until it's gone. interested in knowing what the k3003 does that the layla doesn't and vice versa.

after the new toy syndrome has died away , k3003 are back in rotation

my e-q7 couldn't face the K3 heat and just found a new loving home , so for now K3003 and ck10 will be my dynamic duo until something else comes along and tries to claim the throne inside my ears ( Westone W60 ? JHA Angie ? Noble Savant ?)

k3 is definitely a keeper , ah i love you k3

Westone UM Pro 50 may want to be on your list.  For $500.00 it is pretty amazing.

Not really keen on doing comparisons as I see each having value in and of itself. If I was to sum up the Noble Savant I'd say it tells you exactly what is being played and where. The K3003 tells you why. Now it is early days for the Savant so it may bloom (though I doubt it) I find it more of a forensic tool, though that may be due to its midrange focus. The k3003 is (to my ears) similar to a loud speaker in that you wallow in the sound, letting it encompass you. Both have no cable noise. I like both and which one I use depends on my mood and whether I want to analyse or immerse.

The Ortofon is a nice mid-range earphone. No major flaws, no major strengths - probably the most coherent due to just one driver, but also the most dynamically constrained and bandwidth limited for the same reason. It just does'nt play in the same field as the Noble and the AKG, though again this has a value in and of itself. And the cable noise is pretty intrusive.

Regards,

Giles

i sold the eq7 , it was like you said , decent but next to the K3003 it was simply useless

there is a savant selling used for 500$ but i can not get money to my paypal account , due to bnak measures where i live (greece)

it is sold by its 2nd user but still aaargh
