Same case with mine, the cable gave out. Not sure if anyone offers MMCX mods on these.

Pretty sure our local modders here would find a way for these. I've seen them work with more complex housings than the K3003.

There was a guy selling a modded pair with mmcx on here a few years ago, maybe a search might reveal. Personally I’d be really wary of buying these second hand, there are so many perfect (looking) fakes. Still use mine, and they still make me happy and if my cable gave out I would definitely seek mmcx mod!

I got my old Shure 530s modded by Vesper Audio. They did a fantastic job and could certainly handle the 3003.

In what sense are you asking - from a size or cost profile, sure.
In sq? No real comparison as the Sony has a larger dd, a high range driver that reaches higher. Better micro and macro dynamics, better timbre.
I like the k3003 and felt that it was significantly better than most things around in 2012, in 2020, the Z1R comfortably beats it - with the exception of comfort. I have both and the k3003 has been delegated to ipad duties, while the Z1R gets to play with the R2R2000 and the WM1A.

How would you say Z1R vs IE900?

Anyone can recommend a dac/amp/dongle for my k3003 and ie900? I was reading some posts and they said iems don’t really need dac/amps, and that a dongle would be enough. I use iphone and macbook for playing music
