And trust me, it gets worse. They keep mentioning this Taboo thing, but it's episode 7 and I've yet to know what this Taboo IS, or what it's supposed to prevent.

The 80s-90s style of animation and plot sequencing was A LOT different from how they are now.

Still watching it here. Its one of those light heart series in a sense that it doesn't leave me much to think with

It's a high quality anime short that is actually ultra depressing.

I believe the analysis from stry8993 is the most accurate out of all of them despite how 'open to interpretation' that the short is.
 
 
The second analysis is by no means bad, but the evidence to support it is not nearly as direct as the third ones. 
 
I feel it is more so on the third one as flashbacks to real life of his past lover are shown repeatedly and as direct sources of evidence towards what is happening to him. And his clear abandonment of his lover was also clear as day. The women multiples in his hallucinations are also just devlish repeats of the original lover girl, and so I feel it is more of a type of regret, pent up sexual frsutration, self emotional abuse, and ultimate depression that he has. 
 
I found the end scene with the FPS to be more of something that a lot of us nerds do. Situational day dreams of saving the day, and that it was just that for him but with a deep layering of his depression and regreat intruding into the typical day dreams.

Regarding PP2
It's by no means a bad show. It just does quite a few things that I don't really like aaaaand pales in comparison to season one which it has to stand it's ground against.
I think we would have the same situation if, let's say, M. Night Shyamalan would film a remake of Hitchcocks The Birds. You know what I mean.
