Wow, very interesting! I didn't know iFi made such a product! The iFi iEMatch may be just the thing I need to calm down the slight hiss on my CEntrance Mini-M8 so that I can continue to enjoy it!

What is the difference between the iematch and the ue buffer jack?

If you are sensitive to hissing in quiet passages then definitely get one, Once I got one I threw the silly impedance adapters I had in the trash, nice to have one thing for all sources and all iem's and buds.

Wow that sounds like exactly what I need! And it is fairly cheap too, I will definitely be picking one of these up! Thanks for the recommendation! I am more sensitive than most to hiss, it drives me absolutely crazy and doesn't allow me to properly enjoy my music!

regarding iematch , i had a talk with one of the @iFi audio reps at the athens hifi show

i do not remember the exact tech talk but they told me that iematch besides eliminating hiss (the obvious part) does also something with restoring an extra 2-bits of music that gets lost (or something like that) in the process of playing (i do not remember the exact info because the guy was speaking very fast and very enthusiastically

maybe the ifiaudio guys can chip in here the exact tech details of this specific thing

Well my understanding is you gain back the range you would normally lose by lowering the volume to reduce the noise it eliminates or lost. I doubt it restores anything in the bitstream. Anyhow it works great from sensitive phones and also works on balanced and unbalanced phones. Sorry for any off topic discussion but if hiss bothers you this works the best of anything I tried, YMMV.

I experienced iematch to lower fidelity when used with mojo and with dx80 and a few other players. I returned it the same day I received it

I'm doing extremely bad financially rift now due to a family issue, but just curious about the new whiplash cables EE has implemented... Anyone hear it? How does it differ when compared to BTG

Very helpful, xtr4, thanks. I agree that only quiet, personal listening can answer this question for each of us, but your comments help point me in the right direction. Thanks.

BTW xtr4, when you noted intolerable hiss with the Min M-8, were you using the balanced or SE HF output? Balanced supposedly lowers noise floor.

I don't own the M-8 but the ALO RX Mk3B but the hiss is from the SE output, I don't use the balance because too many different standards; Rubicon , 2.5mm trss, 3.5mm trss and now 4.4mm trss haha

well to me the iematch only lowered the volume, but on the opposite side you can raise the volume to whatever levels of your source without any hiss, it did not affect the sound signature at all.

yes if you for example listen at 50 out of 120 on fiio x7, then it feels like you are listening at 30, but this can easily be overcome by raising the volume of your source to whatever level you like so if you used to listen at 50 now with iematch you will listen at 70, and you can increase it as you like.

also u can use it with hiss monster amps like alo mk3b which is so powerful and you will barley dial in 10% of its volume with iematch. you will not be able to that without the iematch

its genius what ifi did

I know I shouldn't talk too much about cables but with the tease of Whiplash cable with Empire from Jack, has anyone any idea which cable it'll be coupled with, or is it going to be something different on its own for Empire?

Here's what Jack told me when I asked him about the differences between the BTG and the Whiplash cables:

"They're both SPC. The BTG has a slightly thinner sound, emphasizing more treble whereas the Whiplash has more body due to more low end."

Thanks for the info. Much appreciated. :)
