Official X3 2nd gen stable firmware download / discussion thread--FW2.0: Added library search function, Line Output level options, Recently Played playlist, ReplayGain

For real?? How is that possible? Does the X5 2nd gen not have a bit more 'air' or soundstage or more neutral tone? I don't know. Are you sure? You mean i can save money here?
To my ears, the X3 has way more air to it. The X5 sounded flat and muffled to me. If possible, I'd demo both. In my case, I haven't looked back nor do I have any regrets with my decision.

Hi,

Just like in the last beta firmware, I am missing titles in many of my albums.  The files are present in file view, but when I browse by album, they aren't there.  I only have 498 FLAC files on my 64 GB card right now.  Is there a specific naming scheme that is incompatible?  I didn't have this problem with the original firmware at all.

Try manually updating the library in the settings menu (if you haven't already).

I guess it's possible. I mean i know certain $50,000 cars that are as good and even better than some $100,000 ones, law of diminishing returns and all that.

I'll demo both, my music store has both and they have the Astell&Kern ones too, but they're too expensive, and many accuse the Astell&Kern tone of being warm, which i definitely don't like, i prefer dead on neutral. Would you say the X3 2nd gen has any warmth? I hope not, i prefer a DAC to be 'neutral' even ever so slightly cold, because many songs are already warm anyway.
It all depends on the Equaliser setting. What I will say is the new X3 has way more treble presence compared to the new X5.

But what i want to know is if the X3 2nd gen sounds warmer than the X5 2nd gen with the EQ switched off. I never ever use EQ in DAPs.
I rarely have the EQ off but from what I recall they were of a similar warmth. I would prefer for someone else to weigh in. Either way you said you'll get to try them for yourself so you should be able to decide what is too warm for you in an AB comparison.

Regarding the jitter. I've had a lot of stuttering on a PNY 128gb and as noted also only with the larger dsd and 192 files, and my 64gb cards seem better. Formatting didn't help. I now just have flac files on that one and no more issues. The 256gb PNY thumb drive I use with OTG has no stuttering at all playing all dsd and 24-192 etc.
Thanks for fixing the OTG bug! No problems that I can find with this release so far.

Hi
I have a little problem with the new 1.3fw. I use playlists created on PC (with random playing), in cases when the file missing (deleted, but forgot to update the playlist) or just cant play the file for some reason it stops playing and cant even jump for the next title. With the 1.1fw the player just skipped that music, but never stopped. Now it even freezes for a minute sometimes, if the next music title is one of the mentioned before.
Manually updating the library did not help.

I wrote about this three problems on official web already.
In fw 1.3 are still the same problems.

1) I don't know if it is problem preamp, or DAC of the player. When I playing SDF files (1 bit 2.8mhz), sometimes I am hearing in very loud passages (hit the drum) distortion / limitation

For example: album: 1977 - The Eagles - Hotel California [SACD DSF][2011]; song: 01 - HOTEL CALIFORNIA.dsf; in time: 3:56 and next hits the drum.

This distortion / limitation is not depend on volume
I was hearing the same bug on second X3 2nd gen too. Astell&Kern AK120 II (and HQPlayer Desktop on PC) the
same file played fine, without distortion. The DSF file is alright.

2) Please, let VOLUME buttons for VOLUME control (in Lockscereen 3).
If I "hold" VOLUME UP/DOWN button, it working as NEXT/PREV. Why?
For control NEXT/PREV working correctly hardware buttons NEXT/PREV (in Lockscereen 3).
Who needs 4 buttons for control NEXT/PREV (in Lockscereen 3)?

3) Still missing support for the 3 buttons remote control on headphones (for fast VOLUME control).
I listen Classic, Jazz, Rock (different volume levels) and often I need fast correct volume level. I bought more expensive headphones with volume control (3 buttons / for iPhone, CTIA), but the player not supported this volume control (only 1 button PAUSE/PLAY/NEXT/PREV). When I am listening, and need fast correct volume, but the player not supported fast "hold" volume control with Lockscereen (now this buttons are NEXT/PREV). I listen music in night time in bed next my wife. When I am fast changing volume I must click, click, click, click, click, click, click ... and my wife is bothered ...or I must press the power button to screen on (is shining) ... and my wife is bothered.

Please, let VOLUME buttons for VOLUME control (in Lockscereen 3), or add support the 3 buttons remote control on headphones.

sorry for my english

Thank You.

My question ambarassing me her is "Do I will need to reformate my card again, over & over ? Do have to reformate everytime I'lll change for new daps ?

If so, i will lost all my songs, I will need to backup then all my song on another drive. Unfortunately, No drive available for that space now!

My SanDisk 200GB arrived earlier today and I can confirm it works flawlessly in folder mode on the X3II. I don't do library updates which is why I can't confirm around that aspect.

Nice!  I can't believe you actually got one of those 200Gb cards though, they're SO expensive

Friends

I am having playback issues with selected SACD ISO images. The error said ISO not supported. Is this due to the fact that the ISO files are too big? about 25% of my ISO files are not playable.

Thanks
