Pioneer's first DAP, the XDP-100R announced in IFA

The only way to get Poweramp beta to access the superior ESS DAC, is to change the build prop, model number to Meizu HiFi ( and set the output to 24/192 for the headphone jack in advanced settings).

There is a chance of softbricking if not done properly.
Installing XVortex's twrp originated from DP-X1 or messing with Kingoroot makes me somewhat nervous, rather waiting for the next build of PowerAmp.
As for battery life, don't expect great results in the first runs after a factory reset. Media scanner will work at full speed in the background.

I checked running apps, and media is running MediaScannerService and android.process.media

There are actually two running apps listed for music, both with the same icon, but different lists of services running.

I just got the pioneer a few days ago and I noticed the same crazy battery drain, it only lasted about 3 hours. I went into the settings of the stock player and unchecked "auto sync", now battery drain seems much more reasonable. i think mediascannerservice normally only runs on android when there are changes to storage like adding a new SD card, but there must be a glitch in the pioneer stock player that keeps it scanning for new music constantly, causing excessive battery drain. Maybe give unchecking that setting a try if you haven't

Recently got a Pioneer XDP100r, but was curious as to what the bit rate or quality is of the files I have downloaded. On the screen when playing a song, I am under the impression that I am downloading either MP3 files at 320, or Flac files but when I play the songs it tells me MP3 44.1 kHz / PCM 48kHz , the only thing that changes between an MP3 or Flac file is stating the type of file.

I.e. :: FLAC 44.1kHz

I just want some reassurance that the files I am downloading are the high quality that I am paying for. The 320 MP3 are cheaper than FLAC.

Also, any recommenDations other than the stock Pioneer app is appreciated. I like the app, just want to see what others are typically using.

Thanks,
James

Home44, thanks!! I'll give poweramp a try. Do you know by any chance if the "FLAC" files that I am getting are low quality @ 44.1kHz? I looked up higher quality 192/24 bit files available for download and they cost $24!! That's more than what new vinyl is, not going to invest that much if I really can't hear the difference.

Also need to read up on the upsampling option and what exactly that does, my unit is in stock configuration so any tips on tweaking the setting best?

Thanks everyone for any tips!!

James

I downloaded Poweramp, and is the fact that the volume setting for me is now about 15, as compared to the pioneer player when I had it at level 95 or so, just want to make use that is correct.

Thanks,
James

I usually tend to use Qobuz's Hi Fi streaming service (16/44) but when I hit problems with it and the XDP-100R I signed up for the 30 day Tidal trial to see if that behaved any better. By that time my Micro SDXC (class 10 up to 80MB/s) card had arrived so I only tried Tidal with the external memory.

What problems did you have with Qobuz exactly? Just bought a XDP-100R and i also have the stutterissues with tidal on a 200gb sandisk sd, but qobuz works fine so far (tested qobuz for 1-2 hours now and didnt have a single issue while tidal has issues every song).

edit: my sd card is stuck, anyone got an idea how to fix that?

Got an XDP-100R just before Christmas and have played around a bit with it over the holiday - overall I'm quite pleased.  I've only used NOCS-800 IEMs and a pair of Bose OE2i's and as expected the NOCS are a better pair for this device (I've been looking at another IEM or headphone to try with this source but that has been a dizzying experience for sure... think I have some ideas of what I'd like but haven't settled on anything yet).  I'm awaiting delivery of a 200G card so only been using the internal memory so I haven't really worked around the stock app that much but it seems OK to me having no other point of reference than iTunes on an iPhone/Touch (which is nicer for sure but the stock music app on the XDP was intuitive enough to get music playing).

I have a Macbook Air so I only transferred files from iTunes which were ripped from CDs with ALAC using the XDAP link software and it worked fine - a little clunky but it recognized the iTunes files and transferred them organized by Artist/Album which works for me.  The only issue I had was no album artwork transferred ... anyone else had this issue with iTunes files?  Any workaround?  It's not critical really but would be nice to be able to have the artwork available...

You will probably have to embed the artwork to the files using mp3tag or other tagging programs.

Ahhh - thanks for the tip - just figured out that iTunes stores album art in a separate folder which is not part of the music file ... looks like a script or manually embedding is the answer...
