An update on BW from purrin (which also introduces 'Copperhead');

"The BW is still being made. We are just slow and also BW uses some special OOP transistors which give it that organic bloomy sound. In the meantime, we have a companion amp to the BW that we are calling the Copperhead. More clarity and detail, but less organic sound at a slightly lower price (shooting for $1k). Both have EC house sound (engaging, lively, non solid-state treble, etc.) Q1 is the target. I'll send them out to you once we decide on a chassis (probably going single chassis). I see the BW good for HD800 and the CH good for Audezes or HD650."

Actually I've been trying for several days to contact EC (both email and phone) to inquire about availability, etc.  It seems like making contact is rather .... challenging.  I've yet to succeed, and I'm not one to beg.

I cannot substantiate because I've heard nothing directly from the vendor. And I too have no interest to bother them, and have other products to listen to at the moment. I hope the rumors are false, but I thought I would ask if you had any further details, seeing as you are inquiring about the Black Widow.

I should have followed up here. I got through. And I was told the black widow is going to be ready around the first week of January. 16" wide, 8" deep. Ballpark price is still 1289.

When did you contact EC about this?

Last I read was that it's likely dead and might be put into a DIY offering. This is from the MOT, and you'll have to look around the net for the direct quote. I will not answer PM's. You can choose to believe me or check up on this yourself.

TBH, I think the situation is fluid, but it doesn't look good for any future BW ready to buy amps.

Could be. No worries though. I'm in no position to order an amp, and by the time I do, it will be clarified. I really want to do a listen to the EC SS (either the BW or Copperhead) and the Liquid Carbon at the same time. Fingers crossed that it happens soon.
