Was tied up with the N5 tour preparation, the good news is, if everything goes right, I shall kick start the tour post tomorrow by this time, if you are interested in trying out N5, you know where to look for tomorrow. :D

I have promised to track down unit 001 of N5, and here it is, arrive at her lovely owner safe and sound. Lets check out some photo first:

Sue is the proud owner of N5-001 and she is a dedicated Cayin fan. N5 is her SIXTH pieces of Cayin audio equipment: N6 and C5 on portable, and MM-1, MM-2 for desktop/bedroom, plus a mini-CD player. She is one of the administrators in Cayin's QQ headgear group, and is always on-line to share her passion with fellow headfiers. She placed her order on N5 when Thomas shared the first set of N5 concept photo in the QQ group around three months ago. Trust me, the concept photo was no even close to what you see today. 99% of the QQ group members were negative about N5, some of them were pretty strong and to the extend, describe the forthcoming DAP as hopeless. Sue believes in Cayin and is confident that Cayin will get it right eventually, to the extend she plead her support by placing an order for N5.

Today we marked a milestone in Cayin's personal HiFi business, and Sue is definitely part of Cayin's testament on this long and winding path.

When I said the loverly owner of unit 001, I literally mean LOVELY in the most straight forward sense. Sue makes the first DIY cover sheet for N6 and the Minions design has won the heart of many N6 users. She make her DIY leather cover for N6. Trust me, Sue is young and pretty, and you won't miss her if you run into such a sweet girl in a headfi meet.

Wander why she has a 2.5mm Balanced headphoen cable for her FX-850? Well, she custom make the cable before we send the N5 to her. Now that's FAITH.

Hope you enjoy the open-box of N5-001, I am sure there will be more open-box report pop up here or there in next few months, and I am looking forward to every joyful moment of N5.

Considering JVC FX-850 woodies were mentioned, the cable in the picture is 2.5mm TRRS balanced to mmcx connector (balanced wired).

That is a custom cable from a local (Mainland China) DIY shop, as twister6 suggested, this is a MMCX/2.5mm TRRS balanced headphone cable.

Cayin used SE846 as one of the reference IEM during product development, and we have ALO Tinsel MMCX/2.5mm for functional check on the 2.5mm headphone output, I am not sure if this headphone cable in available in your area, they are very tight to put on or take off, but the overall build quality are very good.

For US customers who are looking for local supplier, Extreme Audio has placed a sizable order on N5 and we shall deliver the items next week, they haven't put up the N5 advertisement page yet, so I'll quote their C5 page for reference. Please check this out if you are interested in N5.

Cayin encourages buying from local supplier as they can offer after-sales support and safeguard the interest of our customers, I shall keep you all informed if we have new information on N5 retail channel at other areas.

Surprised you guys didn't use a more neutral and extended IEM like the UERM. Not saying the SE846 are bad per se.
