Sorry, but aren't the V2 drivers the exact same as the V1 drivers?

The driver is the same but the housing has change, as has the cable and the ear pads.

I have the V2 here and will say that the focus and ambience retrieval has increased over the V1. To me, while some of the sound is the same, the over all quality in sound is upped. They are even more transparent. The improved headband also fits extremely well. I assume that the slanted ear pads have also added to a more in front of you imaging now and to imaging, it is extremely good with audience placement in live recordings well placed and individuals, when they make a noise, are easy to mentally see.

V2 ear pads are much comfortable. I wouldn't have an itch wearing V2 pads.
V2 pads get gorgeous treble and mid than V1 pads.
Much precise image and deeper soundstage.
More impact/punchiness revealed which won't shadow details.
V2 drivers sounds forwards, lively, appealing. (V1 was too calm.) New V2 drivers gave me more lively details in mid and treble which weren't heard in V1.

That sounds like I want the V2 pads on the V1 driver...
any experience on that?
or even more, this means the HE1000 responds well to earpad mods: I have like 2 dozens of ideas to try there :D.

Wow, that means the housing and the ear pads changed this much the sound... indeed I should start playing with the V1 pads, the V1 seems to be a better starting point for mods than V2. Ear pad mods made wonders with my TH900 and Stax 007. And the HE1000 has more potential (except the hardness in the mids vs the Stax mids).

The V2 have a sweeter top end, doing excellent with violins. Very airy and transparent. A more open sound compared to the Utopia. The 2 headphones differ in their respective musical presentation and offer a unique contrast.

Jamato, you could be the first to report how the HE1000 V1 sounds with the V2 pads! So many V1 owners desperately want to know.

I am burning in the V2 right now. The V2 also have a thinner main structure of the planar section, so I would imagine this has an effect but as the V2 burn in, I will see what I can do.

They looked almost the same excluding the cover material changed.
Hifiman might have the slight modifications in parameters as my impression to V2, which I won't think V1 and V2 are the same in many aspects of sound.

If someone own a pair of HD800 to compensate with HE1000 V1, HE1000 V2 might be a good choice to replace HD800 (not HD800s) with.

Thanks for your feedback on the HE1000 v2,

CAN SOMEONE PLEASE REPORT on how the V1s sound with the V2 pads on them !!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't know how many times this has been asked.

Most owners don't want to buy the V2s, or know how the V1 pads sound on the V2, they want to know how an $80 upgrade is going to affect their existing investment.

Someone PLEASE.

I am also noticing a tighter bass with more impact on the V2.

The impact on HEK v1 is the main complaint of those that don't like it... That would be significant!
