this might sound stupid but......

has anyone else tried the t3 or t5s with the vent blocked? the one next to the nozzle)

i just scotched taped my t3s (and the bass got a bump), i haven't a/bed them with the t5 (tapeless or stock)

but it does seem to balance out the upper mids a bit more, *hiding* some of the brightness

i'm gonna be shipping out the t5s tomorrow so i better get some listening done before then

any chance for someone to measure this? @Brooko  @nmatheis ??

Haven't tried taping them. Seems like you'd kill soundstage. No?

it does get a bit smaller,

but i think its an easy solution for those that like the t3/t5 but need a bit more bass or need a bit more isolation

it does skew the balance more towards the low end, but i think it might be preferable to some considering the brighter nature of the titans

Titan 3 - orange is free vent (as free as it will never be when in your ears) and green is blocked vent.

Titan 5 - orange is free vent (as free as it will never be when in your ears) and green is blocked vent.

On a side-note, one side always showed a lower treble/upper mids increase when the vent was blocked, but I decided to take the more plausible result.

On a second side-note, I was always wondering why the Titan IEMs sounded bassier to me than on my measurements. The vents explain that very well, as the IEMs don't sit as free in my ears as in the measurement coupler where nothing is behind the vent.

Probably explains why some of us gear Titans differently than others, as well. For example, I didn't hear T3 as bass deficient and really enjoyed it with electronic music that needs bass. However some commented that T3 was too bass-shy for electronic music. As with most things in this hobby, YMMV...
