Official firmware version 1.10 for the X1 is now available!
http://www.mediafire.com/download/30yy0v60lbbsi6m/X1_FW1.10.zip

The following changes and improvements were made to firmware 1.10 compared to 1.00:
1. Added support for M3U playlists and internal playlists.
2. Added setting to enable / disable use of in-line remotes on earphones. (note: do not hold the remote button when enabling remote from the UI.)
3. Improved compatibility with in-line remotes on earphones, reducing occurence of accidental operation of the player by misdetected remote input.
4. Enabled playback of songs with sample rate under 32kHz.
5. Improved compatibility with certain music file formats.
6. Added option to choose between showing filename or title from ID3 tag in the Now Playing screen.
7. Fixed issue with menu "skipping" when moving beyond the first page of System Settings.
8. Numerous fixes to errata in UI text and UI graphics elements.
9. Various other minor bug fixes.

Looking forward to everyone's feedback :)

edit 2015-08-16: If for any reason you need to downgrade back to version 1.0, here it is:

So far so good on the X1.

Now, please use some of those engineering resources to fix the gapless playback issues on the X3?  Possibly some other feature updates also?

One feature I would like to see on all FIIO devices would be lifted right from Rockbox.  Add the option of having the unit proceed to the next song folder when the unit has completed playing songs within a folder.   I use the unit in a car quite often and it is not safe to manually choose the next folder while driving.

Just installed firmware 1.10, will report any issues that I find.

Also, I'm not sure how difficult this would be to implement, but would it be possible to change the function of the scroll wheel on the Now Playing screen? I'm personally not a fan of it bringing me back to the music list and would like it to adjust the volume instead. Maybe even having an option in the Settings menu to allow people to choose which function they would like to use? If it's too difficult, I completely understand :p

Well after much searching, I FINALLY found the instructions for installing the fw...
in the little quick-start guide that came with the X1 packaging.
Maybe it's somewhere non-obvious on Fiio's website, but the site is so slow it's almost torture trying to find anything there.
I did get it updated without bricking it, so yay, that was an interesting adventure. :)
One thing is for sure, Fiio needs a faster server for their website. SLOW SLOW SLOW. :p

Joe Bloggs, I would offer a suggestion of including the fw upgrade instructions in the 1st post of this thread,
that way users don't have to go on an Easter Egg Hunt to find it. That would make it so much easier. Thanks.

Based on the list of changes in the first post, I don't think that has been fixed yet :p

The instructions are right in the folder with the firmware :p

I have just updated the firmware and confirm that version 1.10 does not fix the library file limit of 5800.

This is the most important outstanding firmware requirement and should be addressed as a priority, other aspects are feature requests but this is a defect and will lead to product returns.

I do not believe the device should have been shipped with this outstanding issue.

I hope and trust the team at Fiio will resolve this one soon.

I am grateful for the two firmware releases so quickly so am looking forward to the 5800 file limit issue being solved soon as it is apparent others here do too.

Thanks.
